Anyone get prompted for a pin using a prepaid mastercard gift? I got one loaded up on my phone via google pay. Every TJ I try to pay with it always prompts for pin, but there isn't one available. I tried 0000 and cancel, but it errors out and have to restart the transaction. There seems to be no way to bypass that screen prompt to run credit. Usually you can hit cancel on a debit pin and it will run credit. I haven't done that in a long time so i don't know if that still works. Cashier didn't know either.
At other retailers, the reader kiosk automatically accepts with no pin required.
Edit: Apparently, it was the last 4 digits of the card number.

I don’t work for TJ, but in retail. You should be able to go to the website (or maybe a call option) and set a pin through that. I have dealt with this a couple of times in the last week. I think all prepaid gift/credit cards always have the option to set a pin, but it isn’t always necessary. Most likely the security measures are up to the retailer

Always select credit. If you select debit, you have to set that up online after you activate the card. Doing so also allows you to use it for online shopping.
