Given that there are a myriad of reasons why a mattress might be causing "back pain" -- there is really no such thing as a mattress topper that is "best for back pain." If your mattress is too firm (and is causing you pain from being too firm), a mattress topper is a good potential solution to fix that problem. There are a number of different kinds of mattress toppers --- all of the ones that you are listing here are "memory foam" mattress toppers. There are other types as well -- most notably latex mattress toppers and high performance polyfoam mattress toppers. Again, none of these are better than any others for "back pain" -- rather it should be understood that all of these will soften the mattress (overall) and if firmness is the reason for the back pain, then it will help. Unfortunately a topper can't really be used to firm up a mattress that is too soft. More on reddit.com

April 29, 2021Tempurpedic Adapt topper vs Viscosoft topper
I got the Tempurpedic topper from Bed Bath and Beyond because I could return it. (Tempurpedic didn't allow returns on their toppers bought from them.) It was quite firm. I then purchased the 3.5lb Viscosoft 'select high density' mattress topper. I felt that was softer than the Tempurpedic one. So if the viscosoft was too firm the Tempurpedic one might be too. Did you return the Viscosoft already? If not, try taking it out of the cover and place the foam directly on your mattress. That might help soften the feel. I've found covers can substantially increase the latex or memory foam firmness. More on reddit.com
