Don't know if I tagged this correctly!
I'm DMing a homebrew and I wanted to use a voice changer to make it more immersive for my players. We'd be doing it over at discord. Does anybody know a good software or something that are compatible with discord?
Thank you!!
I’m going to be DMing for a campaign soon, and I’d like to be able to change my voice while playing as an NPC. To anyone who has done this, do you have any software recommendations? I’ve already looked into Voice.AI, but I don’t want to pay for it every week and I’m hoping to look for more options that are compatible with discord
Idk if this exists but this is what I would like to have happen. I'm playing No Mans Sky with my girlfriend. I'm on PC and she is on PS5.
Is it possible to implement a bot that would change the voices of both of us to sound like astronauts. Some type of filter.
If we were both on PC I would know how to do it but I don't believe it's possible on PS5. So I'm thinking it would have to be done within discord itself.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advancd.
If you do, please tell me!
I’ve heard of a popular one called Clownfish that apparently works quite well. As for if it will have your computer? Use at your own risk. If you’re really worried, back up your important information first.
Any voice changer that installs an audio driver is your best bet. If it installs an audio driver you can go into discord's settings and change the voice input from 'default' to a specific driver.
If it does not install an audio driver you are not going to get anything out of it since discord will pull the input straight from whatever microphone you have, unless you have something in between the microphone and the computer that is modifying the audio.
Hi,
I dm and would like to have a voice modificator for a few npc and a boss. I tried a few voice modificator on discord (we play on discord) and found nothing that is free and have seems to work fine. Do you have a recommendation?
Thanks in advance and have a good day.
Just the title. Ive tried voicemod, but almost everything needs money, of which i dont have. I couldnt get clownfish to work, and i feel like voicemeeter is a bit complicated.
Any tried and true suggestions?
I have recently started a campaign on discord and am not the best at voices but want to make better immersion for my players. Does anyone know some good voice changers I can use on laptop to do cool voices.
If any of you have watched pointy hats latest video on YouTube you know the kind of voices I'm looking for
To put it simply a few people found out i was using a voice changer in vc. hOW do i make it so they don't know? Also, how did they figure this out? i didn't use any craszy voices just a fairly normal one, too. There's also two voices when i speak in the mic...
So here I was, down in the dumbs for my complete inability of sounding like anything other than that one me, when a thought crept into my mind...
Covid has me running over Discord. Also across country borders, as it happens, so that'll likely continue after we can meet up in person again. So why not ensure better DMing through technology?
Has anyone here gone down that rabbit hole with any amount of success?
Hello. I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to ask, but ive been looking for a good real time voice changer to use for Discord and gaming voice chats. I have already tried MorphVox Pro, Clownfish, Voxal, All in one...you name it, I tried it, and they all fall short of my expectations. I don't know if it yet exists but I need something organic or as close to a 1:1 changer as possible, something that isn't as robotic or fake-sounding as the software I listed above. I'm not sure if there's professional-grade voice changing software I haven't heard of yet but im willing to try anything that actually sounds convincing (I have a very deep voice and proper feminine vocal training will probably take me years to accomplish. I need a short term solution for now). I am also thinking of purchasing the pro version of Voicemod but at this point I am losing faith that it will be as good as I think it will be.
A lot of people ask about voice changers for their gaming, and it was a topic that interested me, as well. I spent a bunch of time over the last couple of months testing several different voice changers.
My criteria was that they had to integrate with common gaming platforms (In game voice, Discord, etc).
When there was a paid version of the product, I bought and tested the full paid version. Here are my results, I hope this helps others:
MorphVox Pro ($39.99): https://screamingbee.com/morphvox-voice-changer
For me, MorphVox provided the best results. It was easy to use, provided a bunch of built-in voices and more for free download within the client, and came with a soundboard (Although VoiceMod's soundboard layout was far superior). Although this seems to be an older program and it's not very pretty to use, it had the huge advantage of being the only voicemod I tried that didn't make me sound glitchy and/or robotic. It was easy to make your own voices, although I didn't find the need to as there were so many available - there are 7 pre-made different male-to female voices available.
MorphVox was the clear winner and the one I decided to stick with for every day use, but it was also by far the most expensive.
VoiceMod ($20.00 Lifetime, $10 Yearly): https://www.voicemod.net/
VoiceMod was a solid runner up to MorphVox. There is a free version, but the changes you can use rotate through a series of "free" selections, and the "Male to Female" voices never came up under free for the two- to three-weeks I was testing. There are a decent number of voices available, but many of them are pointless or ridiculous, and only two premade male-to-female. The soundboard in VoiceMod was easy to set up, use, and had a nicer interface, but the main drawback I found was that, despite how much time I spent tweaking the voices, people still complained that I sounded "glitchy" or that my mic sounded "broken".
Voxal Voice Changer ($35.00, Discounted to $16.97): https://www.nchsoftware.com/voicechanger/index.html
A little bit cheaper than VoiceMod for the lifetime subscription, but also not as good. There are a ton of voices, but almost all of them are nigh on useless. (I'm looking at you, "Jellyfish" voice). I didn't spend as much time on this one as the others, mainly because I got a ton of complaints about how my voice sounded with it on - it was VERY apparent I was using a voice changer and the comments ranged from my voice being "robotic" and "processed" sounding, to my voice being "like stabbing a pencil in my ear."
ClownFish (Free): https://clownfish-translator.com/voicechanger/
Clownfish is free, and it shows. It's not intuitive, it's hard to use, and, for all my playing with it, I couldn't get it to produce meaningful results. Like Voxal, everyone clearly knew I was using a voice changer, and they were not happy with hearing the results. It comes with a very limited number of pre-programmed voices, but you can make you own. However, in weeks of testing I was never able to make a voice that didn't come out sounding awful.
VoiceMeeter (Free/Donation): https://vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/index.htm
VoiceMeeter is free, and it works, but good luck getting results out of it. It's kind of an audio mixer that you can use to change your voice as well - what this means is that there are a TON of sliders and dials that you can tweak to your heart's content, but it took me hours of playing with to get it to where my voice sounded feminine. The in-client documentation is kind of lacking, and I had to do a lot of googling to figure out what to change to make my voice sound feminine. In the end, it worked, but my voice still had odd pauses, drops, and occasional "metallic" sounds that got very annoying to people after awhile.
Do you guys know of any programs one could use to change their voice on Discord, live? Something to make the DM sound like a dragon, with a deep, creepy voice, or similar.
I'm looking for a voice changer program that can modify my microphone input in real time, with effects such robotic voice, male-to-female, echo, etc. for messing around with friends on Discord and such.
I haven't found anything good and also I'm new to Linux so don't give me a virus.
I just want to download something and don't want to do anything too difficult.
I want to up my virtual table top games. One thing I struggle with is doing anything other than my default voice. I do weak accents, change my wording and such. But looking for that extra umph.
What's the best voice changing software? Does it work with discord?
I’ve used Voxal (https://www.nchsoftware.com/voicechanger/index.html) and it works really well to transform your voice in real time to all kinds of things like goblins or demons or whatever. I will say that doing voices is something most people find intimidating, and this should only be one tool in your toolkit.
Your players are probably not nearly as critical of your “performances” as you are on yourself. The digital voice changer is awesome for special baddies but I find it a little fiddly to use all the time.
IMO, a better tactic is to try to give NPCs a little tick or minor accent. For example, a matronly innkeeper can just say “dear” a lot. You might be surprised how much easier it gets to “do” a voice if you can think of a little thing like this for a voice you want to stand out.
Tbh I'm primarily a GM but I have played in games where the GM used a pitch changer and I've literally never had it be worth it. It really isn't that big of a deal to have NPCs that all have the same voice as long as you clarify who's speaking, and being able to change speech patterns is a way more useful tool for adding character than pitch.
That being said if you really want to, I think there's one for discord called "voice mod"
Heya there! I am soon gonna GM a Warhammer 40k Dark Heresy campaign online for the first time and I wanted to use some kind of real-time voice changer to make some characters sound more immersive. Looking for a free program with which you can make and load presets quickly, should have delay or reverb, pitchbending and if possible different layers, so that I could layer a lower pitched version of my voice over my normal voice for example. Thanks in advance!
When I looked for a free voice changer software I found a bunch of options, so I'm a bit lost, I just need a robotic voice.
I played around with my voice in Audacity to make it robotic, the ideal software would let me input what I did in Audacity or allow the prefabs to be edited.
PS: having a bad internet connection is not a viable option for a robotic voice, I know you were going to suggest that.
