You don’t need an appointment to visit a driver licensing office unless you are taking a drive or knowledge test to get your license, but we strongly encourage you to make one. There may be a long wait to walk in, and if the office is at capacity, you may be asked to go to another office or try back another time.

I’d suggest going outside your radius. I had to get a new license last year during lockdown and I had to be willing to drive quite a ways away in order to get an appointment. More on reddit.com

August 6, 2021Is there any DOL with availability for an enhanced ID?
Try walking in to your nearest DOL? I’m in eastern WA and my local DOL showed no appointments, but I got in and out in reasonable (for DOL) time. Granted, this was a few months ago, so maybe there’s a rush of other folks getting new IDs now. You might wait a while but probably less time than a round trip across the state. More on reddit.com

The first available appointments that you can make online are currently in June Check each morning. I saw exactly this, woke up and checked again, got an appointment a few hours later. Hi everyone! I've recently moved to WA from the east coast and I'm trying to convert my existing driver's license to a WA one (current one is not Real ID and I'm trying to get one that is, if that matters--I have a passport, SSN and all that). I've done the pre-application on the DOL website but when I try to sign up for an appointment, there is no availability ANYWHERE within my radius. It doesn't tell me when to check back or anything. Any tips for getting one? Many thanks in advance. :)
Edit: I'm in the Seattle metro area.
Edit 2: Thank you for all your advice, everyone! I got an appointment for next week at the nearest location by constantly checking the website for new openings!

Didn't have any availability last summer (even with a bigger search radius), but we called one our state legislators and they gave us a number of an employee at the office closest to us to schedule an appointment.
