Your mistake is assuming that since you didn't know the copyright status, it must not be copyrighted. You have your reasoning backwards. If you don't know the copyright status, assume that it is copyrighted and you can't use it. Technically speaking, creating a vision board using copyrighted material is not fair use but you're probably not going to get in trouble for this since I assume you won't be distributing it anywhere. I’ve noticed the kiosks don’t recognize older phones (like I’ve had a couple iPhone 4’s and 5’s and their pics do not come up), if it’s on the cloud, if it’s sent in a text message and not actually saved, if it’s on google photos on an android and not “gallery”, and sometimes for a reason I can’t figure out. Usually will have them screenshot the photos and if there’s too many photos and they don’t want to screenshot them (like 60+ photos) I will redirect them to the app or website and send the photos from there. Especially also if they’re older and don’t even understand the concept of screenshotting.
