The amount keeps changing, downward. It's a total of whatever your card at the gift card area reads. I think it's $750 per customer per day, but can't remember at the moment. More on reddit.com

At my store (regardless of whether or not they’re reloadable) customers can purchase gift cards of up to $750 per day. There’s a sticker on the bottom of our gift card rack that says this. Reloadable cards like Green Dot and My Vanilla VISA can only be bought with cash (except the fee— the customer can use a debit card for that). Customers are NOT allowed to use gift cards to pay for gift cards. If they have a stack of $50 visa gift cards ready to pay for a $500 GC, we decline their transaction. This might be different for each store though. Our store has gotten enough fraud recently to know how these guys operate. My store has this policy that whomever is buying the gift card, we have to hold on to the gift card as the customer is purchasing it AND we have to turn the register screen away from the customer. We also need to have the cash in hand before we press total. My store had an issue with a customer who distracted the cashier asking for a pack of cigarettes. As the cashier turned around, the customer turned the register screen and cashed the gift card out even though the cashier didn’t have the necessary cash to complete the transaction. I’m not sure that we can post void a fraudulent gift card transaction— can we? Normally gift cards are NON-REFUNDABLE. In cases like that though— I wonder if there’s an exception. Most customers know to call the number on the back of their gift card if there’s ever an issue. We don’t “cash out” gift cards either. They can’t give us their old gift cards and expect to exchange it for cash. That’s a big no. I feel like there’s a check policy on gift cards too but I’m forgetting what it is. Oh— there are NEVER any valid coupons for gift cards. If someone’s giving you a coupon for a gift card, don’t accept it. It’s most likely fake. I got a coupon for $20 off a $20 Steam Card. I knew that when I got it, it was a fake. So when I called a manager over, the customer booked it. There will always be about a 3-10 minute time delay for the funds on a gift card to take effect. For example you can’t buy an Uber gift card for $50 and use it immediately. You need to wait a few minutes. More on reddit.com
