October 30, 2024Any suggestions for buying a comforter as they can be quite expensive?
There are going to be people who hate this, but go to the thrift. I’ve gotten my top three favorite quilts from goodwill bins. They were all handmade and would easily have cost me $300 brand new- I paid $5-10 based on the weight. Inspect it fully for rips and big stains- immediately wash in hot water and full heat dry when you get home. If you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, the trade off is a time investment and potentially getting something that doesn’t fit your needs 100%. That trade off works for me, personally. What do you mean by "bed set"? A frame/headboard? Sheets and blankets? We're currently rocking a Zinus mattress on an "upholstered platform bed frame" (good search term), both from Amazon. My neighbors bought their mattress and platform bed from IKEA. Both seem great. I'm sure Costco also has good options. I got my sheets from Target ages ago, but every store is having "back to college" sales right now, so I bet you can get sheets and blankets inexpensively. I personally prefer a foam mattress and platform frame. I like the way the frames look, and I don't need a box spring (which is almost impossible to get up the stairs in our old home, and an added cost). More on reddit.com

I've been a "grab a neutral TJ Maxx sheets set" girl for years. I've brought the same sheets and comforters from apartment to apartment and I'm ready to upgrade to something more quality to finally cultivate my dream adult aesthetic. I genuinely have no idea what are good places to buy from. I'm willing to splurge for something that feels cool but is also luxe quality. My personal style is mid century and adding kitschy but thoughtful pieces to it!
I'm trying to avoid patterns and instead go for a single color. I'd like to find something in olive green, a golden warm yellow, or a toasted orange.

I really love the Threshold 400ct sheets at Target (I linked a green set). They’re super soft and have held up well for the last few years AND have tabs on the top and bottom that say “TOP/BOTTOM”, which is probably my fave 🤣 I’m also more of an alternative down comforter and duvet kind of girly, and found it’s easy to just swap duvets to change-up the color scheme. Target’s Opalhouse has had some super cute prints since they launched that brand awhile back.

Looking at sheets at Walmart, trying to figure out which ones will have the best elastic as I tend to roll like a rotisserie chicken in my sleep. I'm currently using their Mainstays brand and the cheapo corner elastic sucks.
Any suggestions? I'm able to go elsewhere I just happen to live right next to a Walmart which makes it infinitely more convenient then most places

I like Target's Threshold sheets. They stay on the bed, wash well, feel nice, and come in lots of great colors and prints.
