Used to work for Wal Mart. When home office says “purge” something, this is what happens. Sometimes store managers get a bug up their ass about getting something out NOW (i.e. assembled display grills in September, or Christmas trees in January) and they’ll put a stupid low price on it. My buddy and I each got $400 grills last year for $50 each. All assembled, that sat as displays for the summer. So long as you don’t mind half the town having opened and closing it, there’s nothing wrong with it. What likely happened here is home office sent markdowns out to certain locations either in anticipation of not carrying them anymore, OR, we can expect to see new ones coming out soon.
