I'm 45 yrs old. My parents eat off the same Corelle set that was wedding-gifted in 1976. Those things are damn nearly freaking indestructible. We grew up with hardwood floors, and I can't begin to tell you how many times I, my siblings, friends, etc dropped a dish, and only one single cup ever broke (yes, it was klutzy me) I bought stoneware and used that for several years but got reeeeeal tired of the chipping and scrape marks, so I bought a boxed Corelle set. Sorry OP I cannot speak to the difference in quality between boxed sets or individual pieces, but I wanted to throw my "vote" in for Corelle as being an awesome BIFL!!! More on reddit.com

Corelle is now owned by a private equity company created for the sole purpose of buying Pyrex, corelle and Instant Pot, loading them up with debt extracted for the private equity's investors, then declaring bankruptcy, which they did last year. Building up any of those companies is not in the long term plan because the only long term plan is to cut loose as soon as they are no longer viable for extraction. More on reddit.com

I have both new and old Corelle and haven't noticed a difference. Corelle either survives a drop completely unscathed or completely shatters down to the subatomic level, spreading fragments to every corner of the kitchen across multiple timelines and dimensions. More on reddit.com
