Hey everyone,
Iโm interviewing for a Data Scientist 3 position at Walmart and wanted to get some insights from anyone whoโs gone through the process recently.
What can I expect in terms of:
-
Number of rounds
-
Technical depth (SQL, ML, Python, case studies?)
-
Business-focused questions or product thinking
-
Behavioral rounds (culture fit, leadership-style questions)
-
Anything specific to the DS3 level vs DS1/DS2?
Would also love to hear about any tips, topics to focus on, or experiences (positive or challenging). Iโve heard the interview might touch on both data science depth and how you apply it to business problems at scale.
Thanks in advance โ really appreciate any info you can share!
Hey
I recently cleared the Karat assessment for the role of Senior Data Scientist at Walmart Global Tech and have a technical interview coming up.
I am not sure what's going to be asked, and was hoping that if anyone here recently went through the same or similar process, they could share the details about the interview process and the kind of questions that were asked during the interview

What is the interview process like for a Data Scientist at Walmart?
How long does it take to get hired as a Data Scientist at Walmart?
Is it hard to get hired as a Data Scientist at Walmart?
I have an upcoming interview at Walmart for the role of senior data scientist.
The interview is a Karat assessment, but I am not sure what the live 60 minute coding session would be like.
Should I expect standard leetcode medium questions or would it be a data science based interview?
If you could share any information, that would be very helpful
I have a interview for entry level position at Walmart I just finished my masters in DS. I want to know what topics should I revise and how much of python will be asked ? Please help me out guys.
Hello,
As the posts suggests I am completely lost on how to prepare for this interview. My SQL skills aren't the best but I still want to give it my all for this interview. Can you all please advise me on how to go about preparing? Any resources, any links, anything for me to get started? Feeling hopeless in this job market but still trying. Thanks a ton! :)
Iโm going to take a Python interview next week for a Staff Data Scientist position. The interview is scheduled for 90 minutes, and my HR mentioned it will mostly be a HackerRank-style Machine Learning interview in Python.
Could anyone advise me on what to prepare for this? I have only three full days to get ready.
I looked at this HackerRank domain for Statistics and Machine Learning, but all of the problems seem quite difficult.
So far, Iโve practiced implementing Linear and Logistic Regression, K-NN, K-Means Clustering, and PCA using only NumPy and Pandas. I havenโt practiced much on HackerRank itself, so Iโm a bit nervous after seeing the difficulty level.
Iโd really appreciate any tips, topic suggestions, or prep advice. Thank you in advance!

Coming here to share this because I have no idea of what happened.
I had my second round of interview for a data analyst position with Walmart. It was a 'understanding my background' and technical interview. The manager (an indian woman in her late 30's) was friendly, but was barely interested in my background nor why I wanted to join the company. She told me that from that point the interview would be comprised of query, case study and python. I started writing the sql query she asked me and, at some point, she asked me to use a different structure. As I thought for a couple of seconds on her request, she got impatient and told me what I should use. Got the query right and she immediately jumped to the next session of the interview. Asked me 2 questions about tools and asked me if I had any questions for her. My jaw dropped. She was ending the interview - no case study or python. I did confront her asking about the python part to what she said 'it will be in the next round'. 2 minutes later the recruiter called me and said I didn't make it. I did ask for feedback and heard nothing back.
I already work as an analyst in big tech and Walmart was one of my top options to jump to next. I really don't know what happened.
A bit more info: I'm latina, early 30's, and I can communicate fairly well in English
So I came here to ask what could have gone wrong? Whatever it was, I don't want to repeat it in my next interview
Has anyone received offer from walmart for Data scientist internship summer 2022 or awaiting for results after final round interview?
I passed the first round, i.e., the hackerrank online assessment and Walmart behavioural exam, last week. I have my interview based on my 24 hours take-home challenge on Tuesday. I would like to know what I could expect for this take-home challenge and how I could go about preparing for it. And what do I do for the final round after that if I get through this?
I applied for the software engineering role new grad and also recieved a take home assignment, and I think it took me around 3 hrs to do it. I wouldn't worry about about it too much since my code wasn't 100% working and I had to debug it during the interview, but I still managed to pass that round. As long as you write clean code and explain it well you'll pass
