So I noticed in 2013 that our local Wal-Mart had priced their Great Value 60W soft white LED bulbs at $4.88 instead of the normal price of $8.88 (yes, I know the website says $6.88 now but not in 2013/2014).
So I bought a couple just to try them out. Next time I was back in the store and thought about bulbs, it was spring of 2014 and when I went over to the section, the bulbs were now labeled $2.88.
So I started buying the whole shelf, whatever they had for bulbs, usually 4 to 6 at a time.
Today, I have 43 bulbs at a savings of over $200 and my electrical bill has gone down about 10%.
From today's receipt.
Edit to add: One source I found says the average US household has 45 bulbs.
I'm trying to find the best value LED bulbs to buy for my home. I saw a post on here earlier about bulbs from Dollar Tree, but in my experience, about anything I've ever bought from there has been pure garbage. Right now it looks like you can get a 4 count of 8.5W (60W equivalent) at Wal-Mart for $5.54.
