From a proud cheapskate, I have to admit this chair feels amazing to sit in. Ordered yesterday afternoon and arrived this afternoon. Assembly was easy and instructions wear clear as crystal. Money well spent.
So I'm moving into a company provided apartment today in NE Ohio and will need a new desk/chair. I have a nice set already but it's back in my Michigan apartment and I didn't have the vehicle space for either.

This is the first one I saw, it $59 at my closest supercenter

I know they're cheap, and aren't the best possible option, just wanna know where they fall for their price, and if they should be in consideration at such a cheap price point compared to other chairs.
Through out the day, I'm on the chair for like ~8ish hours, not back-to-back, with about a 2 and a half hour brake around the 4 hour mark. So I'm actually using the chair for around 5 and half to around 6 and a half hours, of course not one on top of another, incase that info changes any opinions or recommendations about the chair.
Iโve gone through few cheap chairs esp my shitty Walmart special is wayyyy past it's life, that felt okay at first but wore out fast after few months.
Been scrolling through many comments on reddit and noticed most of them seem to be Steelcase, Herman Miller that all look amazing but out of my budget. i did try some chairs at IKEA, looked pretty good for the price but I can't do closed backs, don't like that they dont have mesh back. so it can get hot after few hours
Hoping to stay under $600 if possible, but open to options if itโs worth it long term. I just want to know if it really is worth it at that price and if it will really be a BIFL kind of product. Thanks
Havenโt seen this asked recently so wanted to get some updated opinions.
Iโm using this shitty Walmart office chair that might be less comfortable than sitting on a literal cinderblock. I know โgoodโ PC chairs get well into hundreds of dollars, but Iโm working on a financially painful transition to DDR4 so I donโt have that much for a chair. Is this a price point where Iโm better off snagging something on Craigslist?
Thanks doods.
I've got mid and lower back issues and I've tried a LOT of chairs over the years. This is the one I swear by. I have one at the office but also splurged and bought one for my personal home office and it's worth every penny.
I paid $176 over a year ago and now it's just $152. Super worth it.
The one,, That YOU are comfortable in.
Someone can say it's a $299.00 chair that's great ..
Yet that chair can be shyt for others ..
You may find a $70 chair That's Great . ..
Recommend an office chair that's less than $200 and can handle a 7-year-old's wear and tear.
I use a Secret Lab Titan chair in my WFH setup. It's a great chair, comfortable for sitting long hours at my job.
My 7-year-old son has a desktop computer he uses for studying. He's sitting on a wooden chair from our dining table, which isn't very comfortable. I want to get him an office-style chair. My priorities are a little different from the usual ones:
Durability. Kids are rough on furniture. I'm sure he'll adjust every knob and spring. And he'll probably roll into it walls, knock it over, and see how long he can stand and spin. I need a chair won't lose a castor or get a loose seat the first time my son knocks it over.
Price. I don't want to spend $500 on a chair that might be replaced in 3 to 5 years. I'd rather find a chair that's under $200. That said, value is more important than price. A $50 chair that breaks after 6 months is worse than a $300 chair that lasts him into high school.
Height Adjustments. I don't need a chair where every point of contact can be adjusted. It does however, need adjustable height and preferably height-adjustable arm rests.
Comfort. For my own chairs, comfort is the top factor. For my 2nd grader, it's the lowest factor. Any office chair will be more comfortable than the dining chair he's using. He's also doesn't back or joint problems a lot of adults have, nor is he sitting there for hours like a full-time worker.
Some items I'm looking at:
Furmax office chair. $42 for a decent looking chair. I'm very hesitant to buy from Amazon though. There are so many shitty knockoffs across all categories.
Flash Furniture Gaming Chair At $140, it's in my budget. It seems relatively stable. And it looks like the cool "YouTuber chair" my son sees in game streams.
Huvudspelare. Ikea makes some chairs that get good reviews. This is a $90 chair that looks decent for the price.
Markus chair. An upgrade option. It's out of my budget but it gets great reviews.
What the title says, I'll be sitting on that chair for +8 hours on average. Pls dont say "Buy an HM or steelcase, its only 1000 dollars" I live in mexico and the cheapest HM is worth more than my monthly salary.
Anyone has experience with a Sytas, Sihoo, or Nouhaus Ergo3d chair? Are you happy with the product? Looking for a chair with lumbar support and headrest so I can WFH and gaming at home. TIA.
I recently took a new job which is fully remote. I have a pretty good setup, except for the chair which is obviously an important consideration since I'll be sitting at my workstation for most of the day. I generally try to avoid some used furniture for sanitary (or just ocd) reasons, but good office chairs seem to be pretty pricey.
Does anybody have any suggestions for a good comfortable chair in the sub-200$ range? Should I up my budget to get a better value in the long run? Something I can be healthy and comfortable in all day is an absolute must. Features like tilt setting, high back, head rest etc.. would be nice but at the moment my budget is the primary concern.
UPDATE: Tons of good suggestions here guys, working my way through them.. thanks!!
Bought the absolute cheapest office chair for $30 and regret it. It's too small and seat is SUPER hard.
Hey everyone, I come in peace.
So I bought an office chair the other day at Walmart, and I built it recently and unfortunately I don't like it.
It's all built and everything and I can definitely unassemble it, but I have no idea how exactly all the parts go back in the box or if they had plastic they came in or what.
How strict is the returns process? Like as long as it's unassembled and everything is back in the box am I all good?
Or do I really need to get everything back in the box right? Thanks for any and all help
I want to try out the Steelcase Leaps, Amia, Herman Miller, etc. to see what's the best fit for me.
Places like Walmart or Target don't have the luxury chairs available to test, not even Costco does.
Does anyone have any recommendation of where someone can go to try such chairs and brands out?
$225 on Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Haworth-Zody-Office-Desk-Chair-Fully-Adjustable-Features-Renewed/751686737?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101001632&&adid=22222222227374596801&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=472166356232&wl4=pla-975494719107&wl5=9016854&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=128177114&wl11=online&wl12=751686737&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQjwse-DBhC7ARIsAI8YcWKgheEtnOUuXHWgPlXrb8AoRkctT3QFLb_Vb3TZC3bhkiQ4ZOEyZGsaAu5bEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
$300 on Madison Seating: https://www.madisonseating.com/zody-office-task-chair-by-haworth.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwse-DBhC7ARIsAI8YcWLVrQbVMTr03p3n1fxloW3wvDvHH2lHiaAL_PPlr_u_-PkAPYlnmNIaAoHDEALw_wcB
There isn't a huge demand for Zody on the secondary market. So it's mainly just the cost of refurb and shipping.
It's a decent chair, the market is just flooded with them right now.
They're both used. Walmart calls it renewed, and Madison calls it open box. But they're both used.
I weigh 360 pounds. I have been buying those "some assembly required" chairs from Amazon because they're cheap, $90 - $100. Unfortunately, I keep breaking them, usually where the base connects to the seat or where the seat connects to the back because I lean so much. Are there any sturdy chairs that aren't going to break in a couple of months or break my wallet?
Anybody have any suggestions? I've mainly been looking at the used market (can't afford to spend more than ยฃ400 GBP really). I've looked at Herman Miller Aeron 1's (too expensive) and Mirra's 1/2's. I've also considered the Steelcase Leap 1/2 and the Hayworth Zody 1 (I've seen what seems to be a really nice model up for around ยฃ180). Is the Zody worth it for a heavyset guy? I've only sat in the Mirra 1 in my work office and found it to be really comfortable. Is the Mirra 2 that different? And would you guys pay ยฃ300 for a Mirra 2 butterfly? Thanks!
I'm a student so I can only spend much and there are also other things I'm planning to save up for. I've read and watched gaming and office chairs comparison that convinced me enough to buy the latter.
As the title says, are there any chair you guys can recommend that cost below $60?
