I have a digital photo that meets the photo requirements (white background, correct head placement, etc). I'm wondering if it would be sufficient to get the photo printed 6-at-a-time on a 4x6 print at Walmart, or if the resolution/quality wouldn't be good enough. I know it has to be 300dpi but can't find info on what resolution Walmart uses for 4x6 prints.
If not, any suggestions for places that would produce a photo with acceptable quality? (CVS? Staples?)
Mannnnnnnnn, can someone give me a detailed step by step on how to print my own passport photo at CVS or Walgreens. What I’ve seen suggested don’t workkkkkk. Like them passport apps find a way to charge you $15-$20 dollars which I’m trying to avoid. I tried making a collage on a app like someone suggested, doesn’t work. I can’t even get past this step on sizing the photo correctly to even see if the second step works where I add those photos to a 4x6. Like is this actually possible or naw.

So I just got done arguing with folks that swore up and down that their 4x6 print that consisted of 6 2x2 photos, was not in fact sellable, at least by what my team lead told me. She said that if the photo can be used as a passport can't be sold unless it was taken in store by a photo lab associate.
I'm personally not too sure about the policy here, and was curious if anybody else knew. My team lead and our Fujifilm rep both said we're not allowed to sell but I couldn't find anything on OBW stating why I couldn't. Not could my coach, but he stood by what our lead said about them.
If anyone knows if that would be allowed, please let me know. I just sent them home without the photo with my name and a recommendation to call 1-800-walmart
Quick edit - they also said that it wasn't a passport, but that they were going to take it to the airport for them to reprint them as passports, in which I told them to just have their photos taken at the license branch if it's that big of a problem.
Just like the headline says, don't get passport pictures done at Walmart, if you're planning on traveling anytime soon. Passport office mentioned that they are rejecting most pictures done at Walmart due to their lack of professionalism when taking passport pictures. They Don't have the right equipment to fulfill the service such as lighting equipment. I just returned my pictures today as they were rejected.
Please note, If you don't have a rejection letter from the passport office, Walmart will not refund you. Therefore, if you send your application by mail, with the passport pictures, the passport office may reject your application by phone and are not obligated to send you a rejection letter. Rejection letters are only done in person.
Contacted Walmart and spoke to the manager and he did not entertain the idea of stopping the service until better equipment were procured. I mentioned that the passport office will reject 90% of the photos that are done by Walmart, and he did not entertain the idea whatsoever, and told me that he had to run 🤔
This is just a heads up, that your chances are slim.
Staples seem to be a bit higher in price, but worth it! I heard shoppers are good, and the photo shop that is located in the same building as the passport office.
Avoid Walmart if you're in a hurry to travel and don't mind getting your application rejected!
We are using a Canon EOS rebel 10 for taking passport photos. The new software is way different than before. With no info on the changes. We have the big white background. I'm using the flash. It was still giving errors about picture quality. I've been doing this for a while, but now I'm questioning if I'm making picnic errors.
Walgreens and CVS charge $18 which is ridiculous for such a small picture. I have the pic on the phone, how can I print it for cheap?? It’s for Florida so Miami department.
On the Walmart Passport Photo website, does anyone know what the A & B bars, as shown in the orange rectangular box, mean when uploading a passport photo?
There is an explanation for E & N but nothing for A & B.
At my store, we don't do passport photos, but I want to start it up.
How would I go about it?
I’ve seen apps and some websites that can covert it for you and you can print it out yourself. Thinking of this as an option because I have a big family that needs renewing and it could save us a bit of $$$ if we just needed to print the pictures instead. Should I just chalk it up and get them done or is this a legit option?
I took a picture w my phone against a white background. From there I uploaded to Walgreens as a collage and chose 4x4. Doing this, I was able to print 4 2x2 pictures that Walgreens printed. They did this for $.49. They normally charge $18 for a passport pic. Be sure to take the pic on your phone as ‘square’ and then you can get it to the right size and proportion.
Where is everyone going for passport photos in the city now that Costco no longer does them? I know that both shoppers and walmart do them (big difference in price for some reason) is there anywhere else I should look into. Would there be a difference between shoppers or walmart to be worth the $10+ extra? Has anyone had any bad experience at any location that resulted in the photos being rejected by the passport office? Thanks!
Pricing and info in case anyone is interested:
Shoppers - $26 walk-in accepted
Walmart - $13 walk-in accepted (only baseline and kanata locations)
Staples - $22 walk-in accepted
UPS Store - $17 walk-in accepted
Sooters - $16
Ottawa Passport Photo - $13 walk-in accepted, Open only weekdays 10am-6pm
Superior Photo Westgate - $20 walk-in accepted

Costco used to be the best place to get passport photos for $5. Now that they're no longer providing this service, anyone know the cheapest place in Sac to get same-day passport photos done (like $10 or less)? Not interested in taking my own photo using apps or anything like that. Just looking for a place that will do it quickly and cheaply with minimal fuss. I need two copies for an international driver's license and AAA charges $20 just for photos.
Edit: For anyone looking for cheap passport photo services in the future, u/euroau is correct; Walmart will take your photo and give you two copies for just under $8. Was lucky to find someone at the photo center right away and it was about a 10-minute wait.
Which Walmart in Waterloo or Kitchener takes photos for passport?
I recently went to three Walmarts in some other city and two didn't have this service even though it was listed on Google maps that they did.
Unfortunately nobody picks up the phone at Walmart. Have been calling continuously.
:(
Need to pick up something tomorrow and I’d prefer not to bring a physical passport because I don’t want to risk losing it or something. So can I take a picture of it and show it to the employee ?
Does Walmart take passport Photo in Stores? I know there is the digital print feature but I was hoping to get it taken by an associate.
I was super annoyed places charge anywhere from $15-20 for a passport photo when 4x6 prints are less than 50 cents a print. To DIY it yourself, have a friend take your photo on a light background without shadows. You can upload the JPG photo to the state gov website and it'll crop it to appropriate 2x2 dimensions: https://tsg.phototool.state.gov/photo, then paste it into a free photo grid: https://www.passportgrid.com/ template which will print 6 copies. I'm planning on printing at Walgreens because they have a 50% off coupon running currently, but you could print it at CVS, Walmart, or anywhere they do same day photo. Much cheaper than paying $15+ for a photo!!
UPDATE: 6/11/24 - my passport got approved :)
Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to get passport photos taken at Costco, since that's where I'd gotten them the last two times I updated my passport. To my surprise, I learned that the Los Feliz Costco removed the photo center years ago. I've heard bad things about CVS/Walgreens. Does anyone else have any suggestions for where to get passport photos taken? Preferably somewhere near Silver Lake, Echo Park, or Los Feliz?
thanks in advance!
Just went to CVS to have passport pics taken and the nice photo guy shared a tip to get them printed for about $3.50 instead of $18+: -Sign up for ExtraCare subscription (Free for 1st month and $5/month after) -Joining gives you $10 off purchase -Print that receipt -Use coupons printed on that receipt to combine with your $10 off purchase -You can cancel within a month to avoid paying the $5. He even wrote the number on the receipt *He pointed out it’s ridiculous these pics are normally like 15 cents but because they’re passport it’s an up charge. He spent about 3 minutes of his time with me and was with a little lady before I got there and after I left to help her print her 15 cents photos.
Bonus: They’re guaranteed to be accepted!
Does anyone know a good place to take passport photos in Honolulu?
