January 22, 2025I have a Walmart-plus membership that's like $10 a month. Just realized you can order say just a gallon of milk and have it delivered for just 2 bucks. Is that common knowledge?
I am not a fan of Walmart but I use Walmart+ because it's practical and inexpensive. Here are some specifics: There are yearly deals between Thanksgiving and Christmas, half off your first year of membership so, a $98 year is $49. It comes with basic Paramount+ so if you currently subscribe to that you can cancel that and save money in your first year. If you have certain benefits from the US (Medicaid, EBT SNAP or others) you continue to get the discount price. Shipping is free from Walmart.com and often items are delivered same day but definitely before day 3. Delivery of of groceries and prescription medications is free. Groceries delivered within 90-minutes cost $6-10 extra. Groceries delivered with 3-hours cost $3-5 extra. Groceries are delivered 7am to 11pm in two hour windows. I have had a few problems with missing items or bad items but far, far fewer problems than with Shipt from Meijer. Refunds are quick and easy. Once I was told some ridiculous bullshit about a tiny return window, and having to return an item to a specific store, and I told them I was blind and didn't drive, and that simply would be impossible for me, and they were at fault for sending me the wrong ridiculously expensive item and lo-and-behold they changed their tune right quick to a normal return window at any store. That was literally the worst thing that happened. Otherwise everything has been great. It's wonderful for when you forget or when you need emergency items. It's great to grab a rotisserie chicken and salad for cheap so you don't Doordash food when you can't fathom cooking. I have been using it for a year or so in my town and my regular delivery drivers know me and my apartment. They're excellent. One lady writes me text messages that tell me exactly where she put my items down to the bread and eggs. The other thing people should know is tips are optional. For most orders I tip at least $4 (cost of my paratransit trip) but I will tip $8 for expedited orders as those drivers are also the shoppers. I also tip extra during times that grocery stores are extremely busy like holidays or before storms. During COVID I tipped so fucking much like $20 because I felt so bad. But I have skipped the tip sometimes and my roommate NEVER tips and never has a problem so if you can't, you can't. They have a new extra service where Walmart employees will enter your home and put your groceries in the pantry or fridge and while I would freaking love that it also weirds me out so I don't. When I place an order with walmart, lots of times the items are not available to be shipped to my home. Sometimes the same items are shipped to my home. It’s not third party items, just regular stuff.( bounty, tp, etc). I live 10 miles from the store, if that matters.If I get walmart plus, will they start shipping them to my house, or will I have the same problem? If I get walmart plus, will they deliver cold/frozen items? Thanks.

I just canceled mine after 2 years. Here's why, YMMV: • Deliveries to wrong address. Countless times, my neighbors would get my order, even though the driveway and the porch are clearly numbered, and in the delivery directions I describe the house as red brick whereas my neighbor's house is blue siding. • Poor produce, fresh meats. They consistently send me the meats that are about to expire, including rotisserie chickens. This week, I got moldy chayote squash. • Missing bags, extra bags. Every 3 or 4 deliveries, there is either a bag missing or an extra bag that should have gone to another order. • Inventory on-site does not match inventory in store. Almost every order, there will be multiple substitutions. There aren't appropriate substitutions for every product, but best believe they're going to throw something in the bag rather than end up with a lower ticket total.

I mean paratransit where I live is 3 dollars and 50 cents each way and you have to schedule at least a day in advance. I had to spend 7 bucks sometimes just to go get the one item. Now I can have it delivered the same day for just 2 dollars. It's awesome! I just wish I'd have known.
Sorry about the abundance of the word Just in this post. I'm exhausted but Had to share. Things are bound to vary in different places. However, it's worth looking into if needed.
