People who have grocery deliveries from Walmart in downtown Toronto - is it worth it ?

  • Financially: does it cost more or less then if you would do groceries on your own ?

  • Convenience: Is the no hassle to go buy groceries worth the delivery fee

  • Any other pros or cons

For the person we do it for it: The overall cost is about the same. Yes. Very much so. Only complaints: The person says they tend to get substitutions sometimes although we request absolutely none (but I don't have anyone who can confirm this is true) the number of reusable bags that come with every delivery ... ugh.

Cons: can't hand pick produce/meat sometimes things aren't in stock and the substitutions aren't always the best (like baking soda for baking powder) you have to be careful to select your preferred substitution or request no subs sometimes multiple items are missing (likely forgotten bag/s) Pros: easy to get refunds on missing items sometimes you get a bag or two of things you didn't order, bonus groceries relatively frequent timeslots for delivery I think delivery is 4-8 bucks depending on the delivery time line (2hrs or less, 5hrs or less, or scheduled timeslots as available), plus tip (generally 2-4% depending on the size of the order).

I’m not sure if Walmart Canada will crash or not, but the way management manage this business doesn’t make any sense. They want to do more with less.

They opened a new store in Montreal with what… 300 employees from what I read. At my Walmart we are 50 employees all burned out. They want us to do 10 pallets/pers everyday. We do around 6 in my dept, so we are overstock and we are only 2 working for the whole weeks. Working in Fresh produce, I think we are about 5-6 employees for all Fresh dept. And my store doesn’t hire anyone because upper management doesn’t want.

It just doesn’t make sens at all.

Walmart was a great place in the past, but now they are completely delusional. I do not recommend this place to work anymore. Love my coworkers, but the job itself… I’m just tired of nothing working.

When walmart cut hours, I cut my efforts. Some of my associates will not take their 15 minutes break and try to complete the impossible. Managers sees this and always go after them to complete other tasks. Others like me take their sweet time and get help. Stop doing the impossible. The more you accomplish, the more work you get.

Headcount and budget is set far, far above store level. As a manager, I also have no idea how they expect to get things done with this level of staffing.

I live near Rosedale station, just tried to order Walmart grocery delivery which I have done without issue for the past year, and there are no slots anytime in the next week.

I’ve never seen this before, does anyone know if their delivery service is offline in Toronto right now and if so, when I’ll be able to order delivery again? I’m trying to get through to Walmart customer service but they keep hanging up on me…

Edit: apparently this problem can be resolved by removing certain items from your cart, for me it was Tostitos chips causing the issue and it’s working again now?? Bizarre situation but it’s finally fixed for me thanks to a commenter who figured this out!

This has been happening to me for a few weeks now and support doesn't know what to do. We're gonna call again, but we found that removing a certain item (it was Tostito chips lol) made it work again. I suspect it'll happen again.

Yes. In 2008 everthing was 24/7. Wallmart, Home Depot, Metro, City dumps. Contractors were working around the clock.
