(apparently people either don't like I'm asking or maybe it's that my question isn't to the point enough. I put a TLDR at the end)
Question:
Out of curiosity based on a different convo I was having with someone earlier I was bored last night and decided to see what changes I had to my pay rate.
[ why I'm asking/ part you don't hafta read if you don't want to:
This accounted in me seeing that my change between being a CSM and going to OGP was more than I seem to remember being told it would be. I'm curious if anyone remembers how much they were told.
I had an issue with pay during this time so there's some potential of it being wrong but I'm not sure and soon after it was fixed, I was promoted so I honestly don't remember.
I have no idea if I there's much point in saying anything if it is wrong as it's been nearly 5 years and three (..?) different Personnel managers.]
TLDR: anyone remember how much you (were supposed to) lost during the 2020/21 restructuring? Bc I can't remember, and I'd like to know.
This despite Walmart exceeding its sales goals and the economy as a whole doing well.
For those unaware, all NHMs are switching to GWP in 2020 and most have been informed that demotions are no longer an option. So <$30M NHMs will be laying off 2 ASMs and 4 hourly supervisors (DMs or supports). ASMs have been told they are only eligible for ops lead positions and hourly supervisors have been told they are only eligible for Team Lead positions or level D lateral moves which includes MRA and APA positions. Academy Trainer is considered a demotion going forward and hourly supervisors are not allowed to apply for those positions.
Stores will go from 3 ASMs to 1 OPs Lead and they will go from 8 hourly supervisors to 4 team leads. 6 associates per store will be laid off.
There simply are not enough positions available to retain associates. Also this will negatively impact CSMs. CSMs are also not allowed to demote, though they are being allowed to apply for Academy Trainer positions. Level C to Academy Trainer is not being considered a demotion. Despite this, most CSMs are only trained for the front end and are unlikely to go from customer service to training people on how to work in produce. Even if they were willing they likely would not even be considered due to their gender, age, or simple lack of experience.
Walmart is a greedy corporation and capitalism does not work. No matter how wealthy or successful Walmart is, they will always look to lower wages, reduce hours and layoff long term employees.
And this is why I stay at Cap 2 Associate despite 20 years of management experience.
Capitalism is great until it also starts working for your competitors.
This is all part of Walmart's agonizingly slow death as it tries to regain its foothold in the retail world. Kroger, Aldi, Lidl, Publix, and all the others are quickly overpowering the former giant. Every minor victory for these companies turns into another panic attack and restructuring effort for Walmart.
It lost JetBlack and Bonobos in its digital portfolio because the core clientele isn't interested in high end fashion. Now they're talking about bringing back high end alcohol---which they sold (and shrank out) several years ago. They want the rich to shop with them, but the rich already have several, better options.
Walmart sees the things its competitors do, but they don't understand why the competitors do them. Amazon brought in robots to aid their workers; Walmart is bringing in robots to replace them. Aldi has fewer workers cross-trained in almost every role because their smaller format stores rely heavily on PDQs and constantly rotating stock; Walmart sees a way to save on payroll by having fewer associates do several jobs.
A few years from now, Walmart may only exist as OGP warehouses. Maybe a few SCs will dot the country like K-Mart. Or it may not exist at all.
After all my wasted efforts to help my facilities and the mental and emotional toil I've endured, I couldn't care less about Walmart's fate. My time with it is coming to an end this year, and maybe after another decade has passed, my tenure will become only a terrible, blurry memory.
Let it serve as a warning to these better, more successful companies on how not to run a business. That's the best it can do from now on.
Coming February we will be getting a restructure like the COs did. Our Evaluation will be completely different from last year. If you don’t get a high rating on this eval, you’ll be let go with 60 day pay. If you pass, you’ll go onto a pool from your market and distributed throughout the market, with that, Department managers will get extra routines and Job roles. personnel will no longer be a position later in the year either. All assistants will have to take care of their part of the pie. With all these assistants being let go, all hourly associates will receive a slight pay increase for it to look like it’s not so bad to the media.
We all knew this day was coming. YBM is right around the corner. Are you ready?
So if the is true;
Sounds like this is more of a culling than a restructure. Walmart is trying to get rid of those who underperform.
It also is a way to get better, more balanced management teams in each individual store.
I don't understand the phrase "all assistants will have to take care of their part of the pie". Isn't this already happening?
The personnel change has been a rumor for over two years.
"All hourly associates will receive a slight pay increase"? Remains to be seen.
ASMs will not like being dragged back to the office to field questions and to help associates out. Our personnel manager is the nerve center of the store. When he goes, chaos will reign. Bad move, corporate. Our ASMs are a pretty decent bunch. But we can't afford to lose them or have a revolving door like we do with Cap 2. You initiate changes to result in failure, you don't blame the failure at the store level. You go higher.
This is in NHM
"Major Wal-Mart Market, Regional, Divisional level structural changes starting on August 3rd. No More MHRM's, No more FOM's & No more Market Assistants."
Not just for NHM, supercenter here, our FOM is out as of today.
Market Assistant transitions to Market Coordinator
Market Asset Protection Manager to AP Operations Lead
Market Human Resources Manager to People Operations Lead
eCommerce Coach to Digital Operations Lead
It’s on the front page of the WIRE.
Has anyone heard about a new Walmart restructure possibly involving team leads? I’ve heard that there is something coming down the pipeline regarding the team leads having to work weekends and getting 2 days off together during the week. Not sure of anything else restructuring as far as areas of responsibility or pay. I’ve heard nearly the same thing from 2 different sources.
Just got out of my management meeting. The information posted the past couple days is true. In case you missed it: FEZ position Eliminated. Support Managers based on volume. Department 40 associates are now Div 1 not Div 10 and report to ASM/SM, not MHWM. Price verifiers have also been eliminated, unless your state laws require the position.
So when are they getting rid of DMs?
I mean seriously, it feels like pretty soon the only "promotion" Walmart will have is to salaried, so they can own you with no OT. Otherwise, you're just some flavor of peon regular associate.
For the stores that are losing supports. Will it be all, including o/n, or some?
Behaving like a nickel and dime indy business. Who's the asshole every year who comes up the bright idea to make the print on labels smaller on boxes and shelves?
How many more times can useless home office milk this cost saver before we all need jeweler's loops?
Cheap useless fucks. Walmart is a joke
Walmart will eventually turn into a warehouse with just ogp and a place for customers to come and pick it up or have delivered. It’ll be much later when the older generation passes (I’m 48 btw) that don’t use/refuse to use phone apps for everything
I was listening in on a management meeting today their profits at least at the one I’m at have been going up yes old Walmarts will be disappearing but like the old looks most are renovating now
Coaches are kinda redundant why do we need a salaried manager over the team leads? You already have a store manager and a store lead that should be enough Walmart has always been way to too heavy on management always to many chiefs and never enough Indians.
It can't happen soon enough.
Today our front end coach said the front end is having yet another damn restructure Does anybody know what else is changing now 🙄
Is it just me or does the new remodel of the Walmart stores look like target wanna be’s I haven’t worked for Walmart in many moons but I am a frequent customer and based on what I see from the customer side and also as a former store planning remodel manager I can’t help but think that y’all must have a bunch of ex target execs running things lol
Just heard today some stores are going to be restructuring and trying out a new management structure, I believe it will be mostly team leads being shuffled around, has anyone heard anything else or can give some more details?
Walmart has severely cut hours. We are going back to third shift 10pm-7am. I was hired for 3pm-12am. They made me full time in like a month and then turned around and made me part time again saying "they are short on hours" which doesn't make sense for a 300 billion dollar company. I was making good money. Now i do not make enough to pay my bills.
FUCK ME
I am not sure what to do...
Greetings everyone. I have some questions about the announcement yesterday about the company restructuring the workforce and eliminating 1500 jobs. Does anyone know if there is a support group after being let go or whether there is a severance plan while we transition to other jobs? The job market is a little soft at the moment so I am concerned about losses of medical coverage for my family primarily but also what type of financial separation package may be forthcoming (if any).
Thanks in advance.
