I’m interviewing for a Data Scientist 3 position at Walmart and wanted to get some insights from anyone who’s gone through the process recently.
What can I expect in terms of:

Technical depth (SQL, ML, Python, case studies?)

Anything specific to the DS3 level vs DS1/DS2?
Would also love to hear about any tips, topics to focus on, or experiences (positive or challenging). I’ve heard the interview might touch on both data science depth and how you apply it to business problems at scale.

For this interview, get ready to do Python + ML + Open-Ended Case Studies. Also, be ready for product metrics type questions, like key KPIs you'd use that are both technical (for a ML type problem) but also more business-y KPIs for a more analytics focused business question. Read Ace the Data Science Interview chapter on ML + Product Sense + Stats to get ready for the interview, and can solve SQL/Python questions as well on DataLemur (they have a few real ones coming from Walmart on the site already).

Interview includes around 4–5 rounds: a recruiter screen, technical assessment, technical interviews, a case study, and behavioral rounds. It tests your ability to apply data science to business problems at scale. Compared to DS1/DS2, DS3 expects more leadership, deeper ML knowledge, and strategic thinking. I have an upcoming interview at Walmart for the role of senior data scientist.
The interview is a Karat assessment, but I am not sure what the live 60 minute coding session would be like.
Should I expect standard leetcode medium questions or would it be a data science based interview?

I did the data science intern one, and it was 10 minutes of stats questions (mix of multiple choice and open ended) covering things like probability, distributions, and confusion matrix, 10 minutes of ML questions such as which model do you use, cross validation, etc, and then leet code style questions. I only got 2, first one was easy-medium and second was medium. Interviewer kept rushing me tho, most likely since as 3rd party interviewer they need to go through as many questions as possible. For senior data scientist, probably much more in-depth stats/ml questions.
