I feel like this should be self-explanatory, but I’m confused. They used to have a 1-6 scale, with a little thermometer. It made perfect sense! Now I’m on their mobile site and seeing words, but no listing of all the possible ratings in order of coolest to warmest (or vice versa). The options seem to vary based on the line or type of filling and I can’t just find one simple list as a starting point. I’m trying to replace a MYSA RONN level 4 with something a bit lighter and also have no idea what correlates to a level 4. Does anyone know this info or where to find it online?
Hi Reddit,
My wife and I have been sleeping with the STJÄRNSTARR all year for a few years, but it's slightly too cold for me in my new apartment (I often wake up cold and need to put on a bunch of blankets).
I decided to try the "light warm" FJÄLLBRÄCKA (75% down) and found it WAY too hot. What would you say is the coolest of the duvets in the "light warm" category? Am I better off just doubling up two STJÄRNSTARR's? (We keep our room at around 69 degrees at night.)
I'm looking into summer bedding for our home. I got cotton percale sheet set, cotton duvet cover, and now need a duvet insert. I want natural materials (no synthetic) and am torn between A) IKEA Fjallarnika in light warm (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/fjaellarnika-duvet-insert-light-warm-50457474/) vs B) a silk option (https://a.co/d/20cpliD ---OR--- https://www.mommesilk.com/products/copy-of-washable-cotton-covered-silk-comforter).
Does anyone have experience to share? In the hottest months here (hot & humid) everything will be thrown off, so I wouldn't mind if it had a bit of versatility, i.e., spring/summer/fall.
More info: One child sleeps hot, one does not; they share a room. For winter (gets very cold here) son has the Fjallarnika duvet insert in warm and throws it off most nights. Daughter has the Fjallbracka in warm bc it was too hot for son. Fjallarnika has 90% feather/10% down so I thought getting it in light warm for summer would be a cooler option than the light warm Fjallbracka which has 75% down/25% feather.
IKEA is 3 hrs away so going to see in person is basically already making the choice. Would like to get them this weekend so I can be ready to change the bedding as the weather warms up! Thanks
I'm a lady. I admit that. I like to be warm but my husband overheats under the heavy down duvet that I chose. I'm going to get a new one, but I don't know how heavy to get that'll be good for the winter, but keep him from sweating and throwing off the blankets.
Currently we have MYSA RÖNN duvet, warmth rating 6 (the warmest). It seems that they have changed their system from numbers to "Cooler, Warmer, and Extra Warm".
If you have an Ikea Duvet (down or synthetic), which one do you have and how do you like it? Do you get too hot?
Hello all!
As title says, it's time to replace my 15 year old Ikea FJÄLLARNIKA light warm duvet insert. I have a separate full-warmth down duvet and it's great, but too hot for any time the outside temps are above freezing (or 15C in my bedroom). I've been using the Ikea one for the other 3 seasons, adding a wool blanket on top for the shoulder seasons. I've been quite happy with it generally, I like that there's enough weight to feel cozy without trapping too much heat for the summer. I could just replace it with the same one, but I'm curious as to what could be better out there. Also it's kind of annoying that Ikea duvet inserts are non-standard sizes and they never fit right with my non-Ikea covers.
I've been curious about silk duvets, but being dry clean only seems onerous. I have to wash mine in warm water regularly as I'm allergic to dust mites. I also worry that putting a heavy-ish wool blanket on top of the silk duvet for 2/3 the time will compress it and compromise its function, though I'm not sure if there's any real basis for this.
What would you recommend?
For reference the Queen size ikea duvet inserts are 86" x 86", and other brands (in Canada) are typically 92" x 90". I'll be using this for when temps in my bedroom 20-25C.
I recently got a really nice real down duvet and cover. I was using the IKEA cooling duvet insert before, but it's so thin that the cover has a bunch of extra fabric and it looks and feels sort of weird. This new one is SO fluffy and plush and I instantly fell in love. But, I wake up sweaty every morning. How do I fix this without having to ditch my new favorite comforter?
Long story short; I've been using Bed-in-a-Bag Sets for so long and I haven't been a huge fan of the quality.
Really wanted to get some new bedding and do an overhaul. Literally have been researching all day for a nice duvet insert or comforter, but I'm honestly not sure what to settle on.
I definitely want DAT FLUFF, like a cloud. I have a Queen sized bed and I'm a pretty hot sleeper. I usually have my room super cold, and my fan running even during the Winter because I'm a psychopath.
I've kinda narrowed things down to the Utopia Comforter Duvet Insert on Amazon, and some others I've spotted on Ikea, but I'm really not sure what to settle on and would love some help to decide on something good.
I am a really sweaty person sharing a bed with my partner. I almost always sweat when I use our duvet meanwhile my partner is perfectly fine. It is really cold here (8C), I get in bed all cosy not overheated but then I wake up in morning or in the middle of the night drenched with sweat.
I checked our duvet (STJÄRNBRÄCKA) and it says
Fabric: 55% Lycocell, 45% Cotton
Filling: 50% Polyester, 50% Lycocell
For someone like me, would you have recommendations? I thought of getting more breathable materials for my beddings but I am open for recommendations and would like to hear people like my experience on how they handled this.
EDIT: I am located in EU
EDIT 2: I have completed a IKEA shopping with 100% cotton sheets and 100% wool duvet, will update this after Monday to help the other sweaty peeps here.
FINAL EDIT: Thank you everyone for the amazing suggestions. I opted in for full cotton (or as much as I could) for my beddings and cotton+wool for my duvet. So far my sweats have been very minimal to none, and when I do sweat I don’t wake up in the pool of my sweat thanks to cotton.
I did all my haul from IKEA, honestly I just filtered material to cotton and bought stuff that way, but I am going to drop the list of beddings I bought from IKEA to help fellow people.
Duvet - RADHUSVIN (Light Warm) Duvet Cover + Pillow Case - DVALA Fitted Sheet - DVALA Pillows - GRÖNAMARAT
I hope this helps my fellow sweatys!!
Hi Everyone,
My Fiancé sleeps hot and I am in the market to get a new Duvet Cover that is linen & Duvet insert that is breathable. Since our current Duvet Cover is from Amazon (MooMee, 100% cotton) with a Down Alternative comforter (Costco, probably polyester).
I haven’t landed on a Duvet Cover yet but I wanted to see if anyone has used this insert before and if they would recommend it to a semi-hot sleeper (Me)
I desperately need a new duvet and I was looking at ordering one from IKEA because the price is right and I generally like the quality of their products.
I was specifically looking at the STJÄRNBRÄCKA light warm duvet, but the reviews are mixed so I wanted to get some more input.
Would you recommend something else? A different model, material, etc?
I've had my last duvet for a decade so I have no point of reference and live a state away from the nearest store. Any input is appreciated!!
So my partner and I currently spend the winter sleeping under a "warm" IKEA down comforter, king size. This is my duvet and it long predates our relationship. I can sleep under it just fine in any cooler weather, and layer it up for additional warmth as winter goes on. My partner, however, sleeps extremely hot. He's a sweaty mess even when our house is 55°F at night. As of right now, I am actually too cold at night and he is too hot.
I want to institute a kind of hybrid two-blanket-solution. Ideally, taking two twin size comforters, pinning them or sewing them together down the side seam, and putting them in our current duvet cover. That way I can have my preferred warm side and he can have his cool one, without having to buy new duvet covers and etc. However, I can't find any decent measurements on the website for their duvets?
Has anyone implemented this successfully, or should I surrender to having two separate comforters on our bed?
This duvet looks very thick and fluffy and has a high down-to-feather ratio (hence a higher price than most IKEA duvets). Wondering if anyone can share experiences with it? Is it as puffy/thick as it looks?
What is the fill power of IKEA’s FJÄLLARNIKA Duvet insert, light warm?
I prefer numbers rather than qualitative descriptions, and am therefore a bit frustrated with IKEA's guidance regarding warmth levels on the duvet inserts. If you use an IKEA duvet, what warmth level (cool, light warm, warm, extra warm) is it, and what temperature is your bedroom?
Hi, we're wanting to upgrade our duvet from a cheap synthetic sweaty comforter to something nicer and natural. Looking at IKEA right now since they have pretty affordable options. We're considering wool and down.
Can anyone weigh in on the down smell issues? Seems like a lot of reviewers end up throwing the duvet out due to the smell. Is the stank really that brutal?
Also would love any experience with the wool duvet. I love wool, just not sure how warm it will be.
For context, our bedroom gets down into the mid 50s in the winter. We're also running flannel sheets and a Pendleton wool blanket.
Any input on either of the IKEA duvets is appreciated ✌️
