The first and last link and both made from cotton spun on a loop wheel which gives a different hand feel and texture than on a conventional loom. I'm searching for a Christmas gift for my husband. He's asked for a zip-up hoodie that will last a long time. His favorite hoodies are from American Giant, to give you an idea of the style he likes. Unfortunately the cuffs on those have gotten holes in them after 1-2 years so I'm looking for a new brand. He wants something that he can wear for years without fraying or getting holes. I'd be willing to spend up to $450 if the quality is truly there.

I have quite a few Reigning Champ hoodies, the midweight terry line, which I absolutely love and they're going strong after ~4 years. That said, they have moved production to Vietnam from Canada so I can't speak to the current quality. That said, if the goal is longevity, one of the most important things you can do is air dry the sweatshirt. Avoiding the dryer significantly reduces the wear and tear on an item.
