Recommended washer & gas dryer pairs? - RedFlagDeals.com Forums
I have an Electrolux washer and gas dryer set, currently on year 5.5. Electrolux was the only company that sold reversible washer door back then(GE has a model now) since we needed left to right opening door. Reviews were good so ended up with it. More on forums.redflagdeals.com

Top loading washer/gas dryer recommendations
First off, I just want to address this King Comforter issue. This is something I see posted about way too often, and it really needs to be said. No top-loader is going to do a good job on a king-size duvet—unless you can find a top-loader that is three times the size of an average home washer and has a compensating agitator and water levels. But I’ve never even seen such a thing. What actually happens when we put king- or queen-size comforters into top-loaders is that they get stuck around the agitator, and nothing really happens. The load gets wet, but the machine is unable to turn over the comforter more than an inch or two. Your so-called "cleaning" is just the result of water soaking the fabric and the machine spinning. The truth is, the results aren’t much better in any front-loader either. I’m one of the lucky few to own a 20-year-old front-loading machine, a Whirlpool Duet (or, for my German friends, the "DreamZone" washer). It actually fills with a ton of water and does a decent job cleaning a queen-size duvet. But... the fact is, most people have crappy front-loaders. Especially if their front-loaders were made in the last six or seven years, they don’t even use enough water to penetrate a fifth of the fabric. The cleaning is so weak and ineffective that it’s about the equivalent of spraying Febreze or Windex all over the cover and calling it a day. The reality is this: Queen- and king-size duvets were never designed to be washed at home. Ever. What people should be doing is purchasing duvet covers—at least two or three sets—and washing those weekly. Once or twice a year, the actual duvet should be sent to the dry cleaner. Or... if you absolutely insist on washing it yourself, go to a laundromat and use the biggest machine they have—one that will actually use enough water to thoroughly penetrate the duvet and wash it properly, while also having the mechanical ability to spin and rinse it effectively. If your home machine does manage to spin it, it’s likely ruining its bearings in the process. Aside from that. My advice would be to consider the Speed Queen and maybe hold off on getting the matching dryer for now. This is one of those situations where you can either buy it once or buy it three times over. The Speed Queen is designed to last 25 years and comes with a five-year warranty, if I recall correctly. Not only that, but parts are readily available, and repairs are incredibly easy. If my budget didn’t allow for that, I would look for a used Whirlpool top-loader from an appliance reseller on Facebook Marketplace—something in great condition, without a lid lock, and made in the early 2000s. Once again, these machines have readily available parts and are incredibly easy to repair. I wouldn’t even remotely consider anything from LG or Samsung, nor would I buy a machine with an agitator plate. If I had to consider something else new, I’d probably look at the GE or Hotpoint top-loaders with Deep Fill. They won’t last more than four or five years at best, but at least they clean and rinse well—something that can’t be said for much else on the market. More on reddit.com

Best washer/dryer sets?
I do a lot of laundry covered in dog crud for work and I can't say enough good things about our Speedqueen washing machine (I don't have the dryer). It's expensive but it has a good warranty and I don't think/hope I'll have to buy another washer for ages. I went through a GE and a Samsung within 5 years before this. It's basic and looks like it's from the 80s, but it washes like a champ. 6 out of 5 stars. More on reddit.com

r/Appliances on Reddit: Best Washer and Dryer on a Budget (and best place to purchase)?

My husband and I are looking to buy a washer and dryer set in the next few months. We don’t need anything fancy. We’re looking for sets that perform well, are long lasting, and ultimately get the job of washing and drying clothes done, haha. We like the aspect of a removable agitator for when we need to wash sheets, blankets, etc. We’re looking for a set that’s $1,600 or less. We’d also like to know the best place to purchase a washer and dryer set. We’ve looked at Home Depot, Best Buy, and Costco. Thank you for any and all advice!

March 26, 2021 - My first set went 8 years, dryer heater element needed replacing at year 8. I fixed it and sold the set as my wife wanted to upgrade. We would have kept the set otherwise. ... We have a Whirlpool set on order but our top pick for a front loader washer was the GE. This is what we ordered: https://www.whirlpool.ca/en_ca/laundry/ ... 620hc.html? This is what we wanted: https://www.geappliances.ca/washers/gfw ... fw850spnrs The reason we didn't get the GE was because the gas dryer in Canada is unavailable in a matching colour.

Hi! I’m in the market for a new washer and dryer. The Whirlpool machines that came with the house do the job, but both are slightly broken (washer I’m sure could be fixed but the dryer has a leg broken off and I honestly have no idea how old they even are.)

More importantly, I want a higher capacity washer because I do laundry for a living and would like to do fewer loads. AND I intend to get a king sized bed and would like to be able to wash our comforter. Current set technically washes our queen sized bed, but not that well.

I don’t think speed queen really fits my needs because of the capacity, and I would ideally like to keep the total cost for the machines under 2k.

I do intend to get extended warranties on both due to the fact that they’ll get heavier than average use, but it’s still nowhere near the amount of use a commercial machine likely sees.

Any recommendations are highly appreciated!

How old is that Whirlpool washer and Dryer you have now? What are the models? You may want to consider getting them fixed and just leaving everything alone.

Answer (1 of 5): We were presented this opportunity with commercial pay for used laundry establishments. At the time gas was extremely low cost, and the local hydro utility believe it or not was subsidizing the conversion as their local distribution equipment was quickly being pushed to its limit...
