Water Pump - How Powerful Should It Be?

Constant pressure water system for well pumps

So I have a creek about 260ft away from the main house. The height difference is around 13ft with the creek on the lower end. So I have to pump vertically and horizontally.
I’ve run a line of garden hose (yes I’m aware pvc is better but cost wise and the flexibility of hose works better) and a length of 14ga copper wire over to a junction box on the edge of the creek to power an electric pump to bring water across.
I tested the system with a small 40psi 4.5gpm diaphragm pump run off a battery. It does work but the rated 4.5gpm flow dropped to 1gpm.
And since it’s 12vdc there will be too much voltage drop to run it and I don’t want to install an AC-DC converter over there.
So I need an AC pump for this too work. I found one that is rated to 160psi at 2gpm that fits my budget. Would that work better for my situation? Would the extra pressure allow for an increase in flow up from 1gpm?
Pretty new to pumps so any help would be great.
Thanks guys!
