Hey, I am looking for a small pillow (e.g. STAGGSTARR or STRAFLY) I can carry around in my bagpack and just use it to sit on the ground outdoors.
My question is if I could just lay the pillow on the ground or if it would soak itself wet if the surface ain’t dry enough. Or could I use waterproofing spray to make it usable outdoor?

Neither of those cushions are meant for outdoor use. As the other commenter noted, you should search for an outdoor cushion; but even those aren’t completely waterproof. They don’t absorb water at the same rate as an indoor cushion, but they still get wet. They can be exposed to the weather as the fabric and filling are treated so that mold doesn’t develop and the fabric fades much more slowly. You can try using Scotchguard or something similar on a cushion, but again the cushion won’t be completely waterproof and you would have to periodically re-treat the cushion. As the other commenter noted, you should bring a garbage bag or a small water outdoor tarp with you and set the cushion on that before sitting down. I'd look at either a waterproof cushion made for outdoor use or look at a waterproof/outdoor mat you can place down on the ground under the pillow. Worst case... Plastic bag/garbage bag on the ground and then the pillow. Doesn't look great, but it'll work.
