This isn’t an answer to your question per se but I just furnished my whole first apartment and Google Lens saved my ass. Find a couch you like somewhere, then download the Google app and use the lens feature to search for the couch elsewhere online. Often these sites mark up prices and you can find things cheaper. I saved literally hundreds off multiple pieces of furniture this way. And to answer your question…I bought quite a few furniture pieces from Wayfair and they were all really quite good. My couch is from Ashley, and if you’re up to going in-store and trying them out, you can REALLY negotiate them down. I found a couch I LOVED for $1,899. After warranty, taxes, delivery, etc it was literally $2,700 and change. I was like nah, I was hoping to be out the door for $1,800 I didn’t realize there were so many fees and blah blah. Manager came over and gave me the couch, 5-year warranty, delivery, taxes, etc for $1,828 all together. You can REALLY REALLY negotiate them down if you’re up to it. It's not the prettiest, but Ikea's Lycksele Lovas is very comfortable. It pulls out as a single piece mattress, so no awkard seams/gaps like you get on the type that fold the back down, and there are enough flat slats that you don't feel them through the mattress as with a lot of other futons of this type. I used it as my bed for 2 summers and had no complaints. It is also very compact, though actually folds out to about the size of a full sized mattress (about 1 inch wider, 1 inch shorter, but full sized sheets work fine). More on reddit.com

I have purchased two sofas from All Modern, which is a division of Wayfair. Both were in the $1000 range and both get pretty light use and are now a couple years old. Both are attractive, but they both kind of suck. They are sagging, uncomfortable, and just not going to hold up. We have one at work, which gets sat in for about 30 minutes, three times a week. There is a definite sag forming on the ends. The other sofa is in a vacation house and is barely used. The cushions are misshaped and the frame squeaks when you sit. My advice would be to scour facebook market for name brand 2nd hand sofas. We scored one for $250 that was in perfect condition, had been reupholstered, and was originally $11,000. We absolutely love it. Look for Mitchell Gold, Ethan Allen, Rowe, Hickory Chair, etc. I once saw a mint condition mohair velvet Maiden Home sofa for $1000. It retails for $5000. Buy a great quality piece used and it will last way longer. More on reddit.com
