I am from Chicago in the USA so this is how I would pronounce it: we're : weer ... the last part of this word when I say it is similar to the body part ear: https://voca.ro/6N4oc5w0loU were: wur ... when I say this word, the last part sounds like the beginning of earth: https://voca.ro/oiEINk3pkpU where/wear: wir (I'm not sure how to write with phonetic alphabet) but the last part sounds like the word air. These two sound the same when I say them: https://voca.ro/dlDBno6MEVR (where) https://voca.ro/mAXXm0bz31b (wear) Please let me know if that was confusing at all. Hope this helps! Is it correct to pronounce 'we're' the way we pronounce 'were'? - Quora
Answer (1 of 12): This question brings back memories for me. There used to be a rather famous stageplay in London in the 1970s and early '80s called "No Sex Please, We're British!" The "we're" was (correctly) pronounced "wee-uh" (or "wee-er for American English).

r/EnglishLearning on Reddit: Does "we're" sound more like "weird" or "where"?
September 6, 2023 -

Basically the title 😂

The reason I ask this kind of dumb question, because I think I have heard, or misheard idk, a couple of times in the past people saying "we're" as in the word "weird" without the d sound at the end of course, but I have always pronounced "we're" kind of similar to the word "where", if not exactly the same. I know "weird" and "where" sound completely different, but I am not so sure.

Thanks

Answer (1 of 3): I agree with Claudia Segger’s answer: I alternate between different pronunciations. When I’m speaking quickly and not stressing that word, it’s most likely going to be the ‘schwa’ variant: /wər/. That’s a noteworthy, common feature of spoken English: syllables ...
