Pay was good as well and loved the people i worked with ... very competitive and lack of consistency with upper leadership. good managers but quite a b it of turnover so always seeing new faces. systems seem old ... Aritzia is a place where hard work really does pay off.

Working at Aritzia : an inside scoop
*** hid my post history so that I’m not identifiable to Aritzia rn Alright. So here’s the tea. I was recruited to Aritzia by one of the FM (floor managers), let’s call her Felicia. Felicia is great. When I got the job, she also messaged me warning me that the hardest part for her was adapting to the dress code. Now you would think that dress code is easy, especially if you own half the store - no. There are things that the “public” buy, and there are things that “staff” buy. I didn’t think anything of it at first, but that was only the beginning. Aritzia’s toxic environment makes you live and breathe aritzia, they control everything about your life...including what you can and cannot post on your own social media. (While many workplaces do something similar, this was on a different scale). The first thing I noticed about the dress code, was that everyone was much more casual than I was. If you’ve seen my OOTD posts before, you know that I’m anything but casual. I love to accessorize and I wear heels everyday. My store manager would make comments to me about how I shouldn’t waste money on buying stuff that I wouldn’t wear to work. This one specific incident was when I asked her opinion on the Wilfred Classic Mini Skirt in the plaid wool pattern. I was surprised because my intention was the wear it at work with over the knee boots and a sweater. My first week there, my store manager and another FM (let’s call her Rachel) took turns trying to style me. They gave me boxy shirts, straight leg jeans, basically nothing I would actually wear. I had never felt so uncomfortable at work in my life. I had also been told that the style is more androgynous rather than girly... I was just so shocked and uncomfortable because they were trying to make us all look the same. This particular week, I had to do an hour long diversity and inclusion training. It was just crazy to me that they were talking about diversity and yet I wasn’t able to be myself. For some reason, Rachel had had it out for me since day one. She wasn’t friendly during my first day training with her, she seemed constantly annoyed with me and when I followed her on ig, she didn’t follow me back. Another thing they did was tell me that I had to post about aritzia everyday and since I have a decent following, I don’t mind doing that - I would have done it regardless, but I like to tag my entire outfit. I was told I was not allowed to promote other brands. OKAY now that that is out of the way, here’s the whiskey: Background information : if you don’t know, aritzia schedules based on performance. The higher your sales per hour is, the better shifts you’ll get. I was working 40 hours and I was at the top of the schedule, which meant that I had the highest $/hr. I was only an SA (style advisor) as I was fairly new (started in September), yet I was already out-performing the SSAs (senior style advisors). These girls who were my “friends” before when I was only a client, stopped talking to me and were very stand-offish. Not to toot my own horn, but I’m a natural salesperson. I also have 10+ years in the service industry and I’m also in real estate. I also have a ton of retail management experience, so it was expected that I do well. The DM, we will call her Jen, seemed to take to me, loved my numbers, and had talked to me about a promotion two weeks ago to SSA in February. It had to be February because the promotion involves qualifying numbers for a certain amount of seasons. There’s something called a BCF, which is a Best Client Forever. Basically, once someone BCFs a person, doesn’t matter if you’ve been helping them first, if that associate is working, they will likely take over. I can elaborate on this more if you guys have questions. It’s not a concept that makes a lot of sense. There was an incident that had confusion over whose BCF was whose last week (Saturday). An SSA got mad at me, went and complained to upper management and low and behold I got pulled to the side before my shift on Tuesday and was let go without cause. I promise you I was in shock. I come in for my shift and Rachel tells me we’re going outside to have a “quick conversation” with Jen. There was no indicator that this was happening. Additionally, you don’t refer to letting someone go as a quick conversation...Rachel and Jen were there and kept using corporate terms. Felicia was not there and she had no clue. Felicia and I even had a conversation the day before about how well I was doing and how there wasn’t any doubt that I would be the next SSA. Jen asked me if I had any questions and hello ??? I had a million. I couldn’t think straight, but I managed to keep my calm and just say that I didn’t understand, that my last conversation with you was so positive and we talked about a promotion. She replied with “I know it’s tough to hear, but we as a company have decided to no longer continue with your employment”. So again, I say “I understand, but I’m just so confused. Is there a reason why? I thought I had been performing well, I’m just not understanding” to which she repeats that it’s tough to hear, but that it’s within their rights to end my employment within the first 3 months without cause. Guys...you might be thinking there’s something I’m withholding, but this hit me out of left field. There were zero indicators that my job was on the line, I’ve never had a conversation where “if this doesn’t change, it won’t work out”...no write ups. Now I have never read reviews about jobs before, and although I’ve heard negative things about the job in the past, I never thought anything of it. I decided to look into it and I found an interesting review from last year saying “if a senior sales associate doesn’t like you, you’ll be fired”. I can’t help but feel so petty and angry towards it all. What could have been so bad that they let go of literally their top seller the week before the busiest season of the year?! I am so turned off by the company now and I refuse to buy in stores anymore after this. My friends are equally shocked and disgusted. The worst part is that I was just never given a reason. I want to do an exposé summarizing what’s in this post basically in a video of sorts. Is this a bad idea? My mom and my boyfriend and my previous managers all seem to think it is to do with that one SSA during that incident coupled with the fact that they were threatened by my competitiveness... I don’t know. All I know is that I’m terribly upset at not understanding why I was let go and that the job that I thought was so glamorous and fun, really was just toxic. More on reddit.com

Since the inception of Aritzia.com, nobody had touched the main menu, site header, footer, or any other navigational element. In 2019, I began an ongoing project to ensure these components reflected more contemporary customer expectations, our growing product catalogue, and the spirit of the brand. The project began with the site architecture — After numerous rounds of feedback from internal stakeholders, user research, and analytics we generated principles for how categories should be expressed and organized.

Hey guys! Not sure if this is allowed, please message me if it’s not, but I wanted to open up a discussion for those who were former employees or current employees or know employees to share their experiences. I have my personal experience and opinions and it’s not Anti-Aritzia especially on e-commerce, but more so the culture of it and how toxic my personal experience was working in stores. I don’t want to elaborate in case this isn’t allowed. If it is, I’ll be happy to offer an elaboration on a comment below. I have a small rant and I’d really like to get everyone’s opinions on the matter and to let me know if I’m normal for feeling the way that I do.
