r/webflow on Reddit: Webflow hosting costs 🤔
April 20, 2024 -
If you're a solopreneur using Webflow hosting at scale gets expensive quick.
I'm wondering how soon before people build something that lets them design & build in Figma/webflow and export, deploy, and host in a reasonably scalable manner.
The allure of WordPress open source back in the day makes sense to me.
I coach several designers to help them build their businesses and seeing how quickly multiple sites add up on the PNL makes me 🤔
For someone on enterprise webflow like me supporting larger brands, it makes total sense but for the little guys, I can see why so many stick with Squarespace, Wix, or Framer given the costs.
Thoughts?

If someone has an actual business, $30 per month for a CMS site plan shouldn't even be an expense worth talking about. The problem I will say though, is when you exceed the limits of that plan and have to have the conversation about "EnTerPriSE".. at that point the price gets outrageous.

Webflow is definitely not the cheapest option. But it's not meant for cheap businesses. If you're just making some cookie cutter website for a semi active business, webflow is not the right tool. It's (currently) meant for the brands that want something custom that help stand out. And generally they know they're gonna pay a premium for that. But the up time, ease of use, AWS CDN, and just general speed at which you can make changes AND have backups? Those are definitely added perks.

Can someone please explain the new pricing structure to me?
I find it ironic that even though Webflow is such an easy to use app, the pricing structure is almost completely incomprehensible. I'm just as confused now as I was before reading this post. I think they need to fix this and make it really simple and easy to understand. Maybe a small, medium, large sort of model would be beneficial. More on reddit.com
Confused About Pricing
Pricing is Webflow is really confusing, I actually dont have a problem with it since I only host my own website, but for freelancing it can get frustrating. Now the real explanation. There are two different models: Site plans Workspace plans A site plan is needed to host a website with your own domain. You could only pay for a “starter site plan” and no need for anything else. A workspace plan is needed in order to develop websites. You can stay with the free plan here and its 100% viable, its basically what I do. The only reason to pay for a workspace plan is if you are going to develop websites for a lot of clients, since with a free plan you can only build 2 websites. Note that if you have a paid site plan, your free workspace will always have space for 2 unpaid websites (with 2 pages per site limit, along with other limits), so you will be able to have 3 sites. If you had 2 paid sites, you would still have 2 free unpaid sites in your workspace, and so on. As I said, paid workspace plans only worth if you are actively developing websites for clients, or you actually want to experiment with webflow and have several unpaid sites for whatever purpose.
