Title Edit: “Wish Webflow had a middle-tier CMS plan for smaller projects”
I genuinely love Webflow — the editor feels like magic, animations are buttery smooth, and it’s honestly one of the most satisfying no-code tools I’ve ever used.
That said, I really wish Webflow had a plan that fits smaller projects better.
Here’s what I mean:
Basic plan ($14/mo) → 150 static pages, no CMS
CMS plan ($23/mo) → 150 pages, 20 CMS collections, 2,000 items
That jump from no CMS to full CMS feels massive for someone who just wants to build a portfolio, a blog, or a couple of small client sites.
I don’t need 150 pages or 20 CMS collections — something like 50 pages, 5–10 collections, and 500–1,000 items would fit perfectly.
It’s not about regional pricing or discounts — it’s just that Webflow’s current tiers skip over a huge group of creators, students, and freelancers who love the tool but can’t justify paying for features they’ll never use.
Would love to see a “lite CMS” plan someday. Feels like it could open the door for a lot more independent builders to stay within the Webflow ecosystem.

Help me out guys. I am a former SEO expert and article writer but I wanted to venture into web design. My first stop was obviously webflow since It's long learning curve teaches you lot's of stuff on web design which works for me. Also, I have seen a lot of job postings on people looking for webflow experts and that's really motivating. However, I am stuck on the pricing. I have to pay for a workspace and also their hosting plans are quite unfavourable especially since I'm from a third world country (Kenya). I am really eager to learn web design without the traditional approach of starting with HTML, CSS , Python and all that. So my question is...how can I learn webflow and use it to create websites without their costs?
Hey everyone,
quick question for the community
How do you feel about Webflow’s site pricing? I’m talking specifically about the two most common ones: Basic $18/m and CMS $29/m
Do those numbers feel reasonable to you for what you get? Or a bit on the high side?
If you had the power to set the pricing, what would you make these plans cost?
Curious to see how everyone else thinks about this, since these are probably the plans most of us end up using.
If you're a solopreneur using Webflow hosting at scale gets expensive quick.
I'm wondering how soon before people build something that lets them design & build in Figma/webflow and export, deploy, and host in a reasonably scalable manner.
The allure of WordPress open source back in the day makes sense to me.
I coach several designers to help them build their businesses and seeing how quickly multiple sites add up on the PNL makes me 🤔
For someone on enterprise webflow like me supporting larger brands, it makes total sense but for the little guys, I can see why so many stick with Squarespace, Wix, or Framer given the costs.
Thoughts?
Average/range is perfect.
I'm trying to figure out what pricing plan to choose from as I'm currently going through the "21-day design portfolio course" and at certain moment I faced the limitations of the free plan, namely a limited amount of utility pages and no access to a custom code option.
Due to this issue I'm unable to proceed further without choosing a plan and paying for it.
What pricing plan would you suggest for a newbie kick start and what plan would be the best later on to avoid any webflow limitations and accept clients without fear of switching towards more expensive options? I mean the cheapest most optimal option for both cases.
P.S. It's a bit unpleasant to realize half way through the course that in order to receive a whole understanding of the tool you need to pay almost from the start.
Hi folks,
Background:
I graduated from a UX/UI bootcamp. I need a website to showcase my projects, prototypes etc. I’d love to code one myself but it will take some time before my web dev skills reach the level required to build something I’m satisfied with. I initially tried squarespace/WIX/Format/UXFolio and pretty much every site builder under the sun before deciding I want to go with Webflow. I really liked some of the templates in the store and wanted to purchase one and then insert my content etc.
My site needs the following:
-Projects (home page) -About -Contact -I will need to add a new page for every project I upload.
-
links to dribbble, behance, linkedin and other socials
-
currently own a domain and have a subscription to a web hosting company due to expire in a couple of months
Questions:
-
What is the difference between a site plan and account plan (do I need one or both?)
-
Which of those plans do I need if I want to either:
-
build the site in webflow and have my existing web host company host my site
-
build the site in webflow and let webflow host the site also (so everything in webflow)

Thanks for your help!
Congrats on finishing the bootcamp.
First off, try not to use a template, you've just finished a course in design, create something for yourself.
For the plans, an account plan is only necessary if you plan on making multiple sites and want the ability to export code, do site transfers have enhanced staging etc. It's for people building for clients.
You just need a free account to get going and then add a site plan so you can host with a custom domain, the level of site plan will depend on what you want to use. CMS is probably the way to go for a portfolio as it will make updates easy, but I'm sure a Basic will work too if you don't plan on using the cms.
WF accounts are easy to upgrade/downgrade so you can always change in the future.
In case anyone is as confused by Webflow's pricing as we were, even after their latest change, here are a few pointers.
First of all, you'll need a Site plan (or E-commerce plan) by default.
Which Site plan to go for:
-
If you're just starting out with designing websites, stick with the free Starter plan.
-
Go for the Basic plan once you get your first client or are building a simple, non-CMS site that needs to be on a live domain (ie your portfolio).
-
Go for the CMS plan if you need to display some content (blog posts, collection lists) on a site.
-
Go for the Business plan if you need to display a lot of content.
As for Workspace plans, stick with the free plan until you exceed 2 unhosted sites or need other people to collaborate.
We did a more detailed post about Webflow pricing if it helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
I have recently decided to upgrade my plan from starter to basic, which costs $14/mon. My question is, is hosting included in this $14 monthly fee, or does it cost extra? I come from a Wordpress background where, of course, it is up to the user to purchase hosting elsewhere in order to launch the site on the Internet. Sorry if this may seem like a dumb question, I just wanted to be sure before making a decision on whether to move my portfolio site to Webflow or just stick with Wordpress.
I’m using a .ac.uk academic email and I signed up to the tool with the same one.
Submitted the form twice but no response for weeks now.
I understand that we are transitioning to a "workspace" model with a new pricing structure, but I'm confused AF.
From what I can see, I would need to pay;
$49/month for Growth Workspace (Just the account?)
$70-$280/month, depending on how many users want access to the shared projects
$12-36/month for hosting per project.
So as a two-person team ($70) with a Webflow account ($49) and 3 basic projects ($12*3) I would be expected to pay $155 per month?
Am I right or have I missed something?
If I'm right, isn't this a bit on the expensive side?
Edit: "12*3 instead of 36"
So I just finished creating a site for my client. I use a freelancer plan which is roughly $28/month (I think they just increased it from $24/month). If you pay yearly it’s cheaper.
Now am surprised when I transfer the site to the client…and the client get a basic plan for $18/month…there is no option for me to be added as a designer or collaborator. For that to happen they have to get an even bigger plan. Mind you this is a simple 5 pages website with no CMS.
I don’t think Webflow is heading to the right direction…it’s becoming super expensive for no reason.
Is it just me or does webflow seem a bit pricey for someone just wanting to build a static site or even a project where the client just needs to update a few photos a month in the gallery portion of their site.
It seems like they are missing a slightly cheaper plan for your very basic sites. Not complaining whatsoever, but just curious how more experienced web designers/developers feel.
I'm personally a full-time DBA who just started getting into web design as a hobby to make some side cash so I am by no means an expert on the topic.
If you only want one site it's $12USD/month ($16 for CMS). To me, that's a really fair and competitive price.
A lite plan with 10 projects is only $16USD/month. (It's a few extra dollars/month if you aren't ready to commit for a full year.) If you have 10 projects on the go you're basically paying less than $2/month per project.
Considering how much more powerful Webflow is than other design software, I think it's worth it!
You have to compare the pricing with hosting that have the same performances. It's actually very fair if you think about the stack they use and the performance they gave you. If you watch up the Aws and fastly prices and try to make a site with same global performances by hand you'll see that the little overprice that they take it's really worth, just think about the time you saved by using webflow and the automatic deployment instead of developing your own scripts and pipelines to make your site deployable with 1 click and editable by your end users. Sure for a very basic site with no CMS you can have same performances and pay less exporting the website and using the free tiers of S3 + cloudflare, Zeit, Netlify or so on (Only if you have made a lightweight website and you have not a lot of traffic though, cause all of them charge between 0,08 and 0,2 $ for GB of data transfer above the free tier). But you should set up by hand your CI/CD system to make your site deployable with 1 click. So when you read about the pricing think about how much time you save (time is money too) and what performances you get 😃
Hello Everyone! I am looking to create my portfolio [as a digital enterprise management specialist student, as well as a User-interface & graphic designer and digital marketer]
For the last few weeks I have been exploring webflow and so far I am liking this!! its really flexible and offers great features even for people that are not great with coding (like me). I am used to Wordpress and have used WIX before but still I find webflow to be a bit more modern and versatile.
My question:
As I said above- is it worth buying a paid plan for portfolio purposes? or is there another alternative to webflow?
with the basic plan currently I dont care too much about the domain being weblow.io, but the branding watermark in the published site is something thats ruining the experience..... any advice?
I signed up for Reddit just to share my views of Webflow with the Webflow staff. I've been following along with the threads here about pricing changes on different plans and Webflow's response.
Let me start by saying Webflow as a tool is unbelievable. I've been developing for the web since my teenage years, starting with Microsoft Frontpage, eventually learning how to code properly, with the majority of my projects now centered around Adobe Commerce (aka Magento) / Shopify builds.
From my viewpoint, Webflow has absolutely revolutionized design and the time it takes to launch a project. When Webflow launches memberships and logic, it will be an absolute game changer. In other words, I'm a huge fan of Webflow currently as well as where it's headed.
That being said, I'd love to see Webflow lower the cost of entry and simplify pricing structures. With Adobe Commerce/Magento, new designers can download an open source version for free and host it for $5/month on Digital Ocean. If I didn't have that ability, I never would have been able to launch my projects when I was getting started. The same with Wordpress, the same the same a whole bunch of CSS and JS frameworks I've used over the years, Figma, and so on.
With Webflow, the starter plan is limited to the point of not being useful other than to see how Webflow works. And from there, just make pricing simple. Give everyone the discounted rate without the need to buy an annual plan, get rid of white labeling for all paid plans, and drop team plans. Just let anyone on the pro plan connect to anyone else on the pro plan and have the team dashboard pop up when they do.
As for hosting, again, keep it simple. Why is ecommerce and CMS split up? Give everyone the discounted rate monthly, drop the annual, and charge based on data usage more than features like Digital Ocean. For a super small business just getting started, $42 a month+ 2% transaction fees isn't cheap. Coming from Magento/Wordpress/Digital Ocean, it's a limiting factor for new businesses. And drop branded receipts - it's just confusing for customers.
My fear is that once membership/logic launches, that's going to add more pricing complexity as well.
I genuinely feel like if Webflow can bring the cost down to entice more young users/startups, the community will grow tremendously. Make it cheaper than Shopify and simplify billing across the board, and the sky is the limit.
Thanks to the Webflow team for building such a great product. Keep up the great work!
