r/army on Reddit: Guide on getting into military webmail for anyone coming out of Basic or AIT.
October 30, 2012 -

Here's a quick guide into getting into military web mail for anyone coming out of AIT and basic. It should point you into the right direction.

  1. Get a CAC reader. They run about $20 on Amazon. You will need this, your cac, and a pin to log onto any Government website.

  2. Update milconnect (Guide). You will need to use good old fashioned internet explorer to open this and any .mil website with your cac.

  3. You will need to wait 4-48 hours for the change to take effect. Once you're done, you can log onto web.mail.mil.

I've always been an Apple guy, and since the Army refuses to acknowledge Macs exist, I bought a brand new windows laptop to be able to do army shit at home. It's not top of the line, but it's got better specs than those bricks the army buys. With that said:

-Fuck the Army for building every single website they make you use for internet explorer. The least secure, least intuitive, most fuck you browser of all time.

-Fuck the Army for not letting us use mail clients from home, thus making me use the abovementioned shit-tastic webmail system.

-Fuck the Army for making me click through five pages, every time, just to get to my email.

-Fuck the Army for not renewing its certificates, resulting in every new page I try to navigate to provoking a 'this website isn't safe' warning from my browser.

I'll have a #2 with fries, but I tried to order by email, so I don't know if I'll ever get my food.

All I had to do was:

  1. An IT User Agreement

  2. Cyber Awareness

  3. Request an account through my unit S6.

  4. Receive emails for Mobile Connect and Hypori to my military email.

  5. Scan QR Code for Mobile Connect and be sure to click 2FA rather than just passcode.

  6. Sign into Hypori and create the account on my cell phone.

  7. Receive Army 365 AVD Onboarding Email.

  8. Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop app to my personal computer.

  9. Add the Azure Workspace to the application.

  10. Sign into my .mil, this time from the Remote Desktop app.

  11. Pick a server.

  12. Re-verify my 365 account.

  13. Sign into the PureBred website through AVD using my CAC.

  14. Select my device.

  15. Generate a one time password.

  16. Agree to terms of service.

  17. Sign into Purebred registration application through the Hypori phone client.

  18. Insert and confirm OTP.

  19. Open Outlook.

  20. Add email account.

  21. Select Purebred PIV

  22. Profit

My reward is now a slow, android based virtual client on my iPhone that I will never tell my unit that I have access to because they already can’t respect professional work/home boundaries. I can’t believe more people haven’t signed up before the June deadline for NIPR access on personal devices.

One Commissary sushi and a margarita, please and thank you.

Edit: fixed numbering.

Enterprise Email : r/army - Reddit

As issue ridden as the Army's Enterprise Webmail is I would like some guidance as to how fix a certain problem. Every time I try to log into the webmail I'm greeted with this same problem.

image

All other sites work (myPay, AKO, ALMs). This is the only one giving me an issue. Also I have used militarycac.com, it hasn't changed anything.

Edit: 10/30/14

SOLUTION: Get your CAC replaced. If that doesn't solve your problems on IE, then follow the advice below.

If you are constantly getting an Error 500 "page cannot be displayed", try downgrading from IE11 to 10. If you don't know how to do this then you go to Start--->Control Panel--->Uninstall a Program--->View Installed Updates--->scroll down to Microsoft Windows--->delete Windows Internet Explorer 11.

I’ve been having trouble for a while now trying to sign into my Army email. Everytime I try, it says, “Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in.” My CAC is updated and I went to go ask the staff in the CAC office about this and they said it should be good after they did something but it still hasn’t been resolved. I’m in the Army National Guard. Any suggestions?

October 17, 2015 - I have never gotten webmail to work since the switch to Enterprise. I think it's because Im both mil and civ cac holder. ... Activate your PIV and you should be good to go. Dual CAC holder often have this problem. ... Use chrome if you have it. I started getting that error about a year ago and I switched to chrome for my Army Email.

Hello!

I recently came off of IRR into the Reserves, and got a new CAC. The certificates are on the card and work for everything (ie AKO, iPerms, etc.) EXCEPT for the army webmail.

Everytime I attempt to access it (and I've tried through chrome, firefox and IE) this shows up. on MilitaryCAC the only mention of this error is for Mac computers, which I'm not using.

Can anyone help me out with this?
