Hi Chicago! I have two weddings this year and I am looking for recommendations on boutiques where I can find nice wedding guest dresses (budget: $100-$300) in the loop, north side or wicker park. I would appreciate any recommendations!

I think Bloomies/Nordstrom other big box stores would have the most options in your price range. The boutiques I can think of that have a good selection of formal dresses are $$$. If interested in renting designer dresses, you might want to check out Janet Mandell, there’s a showroom in river north

Look up "Rent the runway". My wife uses them. It's better than buying something you might only wear once.

Honestly, the number of times i dont think of macys first then get last minute guest dress for reasonable prices there is wild. If you're US based. I've done well at tj maxx and marshalls. Though that can be area dependent. Otherwise lulus, nordstrom, Karen millen ((though a bit more expensive on the expensive) hello molly, asos, oh polly, abercrombie is a good option, sometimes you can get lucky on revolve- they have some good options under $200 but def on the trendier side I'll try and think of more places. I’ve found some great dresses at Nordstrom Rack and T. J. Maxx. You need to dig and might need to go several times, but they often have great options for great prices. You can try them on which is a huge plus (and bring your heels with you). I’m not a huge fan of Zara in general, but I’ve seen some cute wedding guest options in store. IMO sizing is all over the place so beware! Also highly recommended borrowing from friends if you’re trying to save in costs and it’s an option for you! More on reddit.com

hey everyone! i’m new here & this might come off as a silly question but as the title asks, where do you shop for your wedding guest attire? i have only been to one wedding in my adult life.. i think i ordered a dress online for that wedding. however, my boyfriends sister is getting married in 11 days so i don’t think online ordering is an option.
i have a maroon colored dress with perfectly matching shoes i was thinking about wearing but i know the bridal party is wearing a “merlot-wine” which i can only assume would be v similar to my maroon. i don’t want it to seem as if i’m trying to be a part of the bridal party. although, i do think it would look cute to kind of “match” my boyfriend but there’s not really a way to match, unless i wear a similar color to the party, i guess.
i talked to my boyfriends sister and showed her pictures of my dress, and she said she thinks it’s fine.. it’s above the knee length whereas her bridesmaids will be wearing full floor length gowns. i think she may have mentioned it being a few shades apart, as well. she also hyped up how cute the matching shoes are. tehe
despite the brides “approval”, i told her i would make an effort to shop around and look for other options. part of me too, also wants to buy a new dress for the fun of it rather than wear an older dress that’s been collecting dust in my closet. so in the next 11 days, where should i go shopping?!
budget is like $200 total. shoes, dress, accessories, etc. dress code per the wedding invite is semi-formal or cocktail attire

It depends on the weddings dress code. I do think Macys and other department stores are really underrated, I prefer to go in person to try on dresses like that. My city has a formalwear shop that carries a large stock of off the rack dresses, and that’s been a huge lifesaver for me. I’d look to see if that’s an option for you. Windsor is also an option. I went there looking for a BTO dress recently, but a lot of their stock was catered to high school homecoming dresses. Still can’t hurt to pop in! In the future, I’ve had really good luck with The RealReal. I’ve found $400-$500 dresses NWT for under $50, which leaves me with budget to get them tailored perfectly to me. It won’t help on 11 days notice, but it’s good if you have a month or two notice in the future!
