Great post!! I would add these deadlines: Application: completed by the 1st of the month prior to your start date. First call with an EC: 1st -5th if the month prior to your start date. Again if not earlier! Transcripts: need to be received the 5th of the month prior to your start date. I would make it earlier than that invade you need to appeal. Commit to start: completed by the 15th of the month prior to your start date. If you can get it done before you’ll have access to orientation if you are financially cleared too! Financial Aid: all documents on file received and satisfied by the 10th of the month prior to your start date. If not before - again if you are financially cleared before the 15th you’ll have access to orientation. Self-pay- arrangements need to be made before the 22nd of the month prior to your start date. If not before the 15th. Again orientation would open for you that day if arrangements are made before. Orientation: complete and turn in your task before the 27th to have it completed before the 1st to have access to courses on the 1sr. Program Mentor: they will be assigned when orientation opens for you (15th or later when financially cleared). Make sure you meet with them at least 2 before you start on the 1st! Get on their calendars they fill up fast. Remember your 45 day policy and make a plan to meet it in your 1st term. More on reddit.com

As a WGU employee for 9+ years, they really don't listen to faculty & staff when we echo student concerns. The only way to truly have your voice heard is to submit feedback via the COURSE FEEDBACK link in the course of study (this takes your complaint right to the course & program developers), or to email the Ombudsman at [email protected] . The Ombudsman's role is to advocate for students & they take all complaints seriously. Hope this helps!! More on reddit.com

Can anyone explain if my situation is normal?
First, I posted here about a month, maybe a month and a half ago asking about the lack of communication and basically how I applied and didn't even hear from someone for 2 weeks.
Well, now its 1 week from my "start date"
I still have yet to speak to a single person on the phone
I still have no assigned mentor
I still have no clue about what is going on with my financial aid
Anytime I e-mail the financial aid office, they just tell me "not to worry" and I'll get a call if there is a problem.
Well, I start in a week and I've been given zero guidance on what to do. Considering 4/7 of the days in the next week are holidays/weekend - this is concerning.

You are not properly in the system somehow. Your start date can't be in a week because you will have needed to clear certain hurdles in order to start. Which don't panic, but I doubt you will be starting this week, Do you have a student portal yet? Have you gotten an acceptance email? Go to the WGU website, open whatever you have by way of an account there, and look for Student Services. Basically call ANY number associated with that (after the holidays they're not going to be paying much attention right now)....and tell them what you have going on. With what you're describing I don't think you're properly enrolled. They should absolutely be calling you, a week out you should be completing your orientation, you should have been through the process with your enrollement advisor, you should have a student portal and you should have been cleared for your FAFSA to be accepted. Somehow along the line your information got dropped out and you didn't show up in the system somehow, it sounds like they're not aware of you. You do need to make phone calls and have the information on hand like what email account and phone number you applied with. Don't take no for an answer, keep asking to speak to someone until they can make it clear that they CAN see your enrollment status, and get your set up with an enrollment counsellor, or that they don't see you in the system which means you need to go back to the application process and start over for some reason. I'm NOT a WGU expert but I did just start in November and it took me several months of getting stuff together in advance of that. YMMV but they definitely both called and emailed a lot during the process so the silence means something in your process isn't processing.
