September 12, 2019 - They will be pushing authentication results into the interface, so end users can see which emails are authenticated. These are not deliverability changes, the presence or absence of authentication will not affect inbox delivery. And the gmail Gmail support pages clarify that lack of authentication is not a sign that mail is spam. This isn’t a huge change for most ESPs and most senders. In fact, Gmail has reported more than 95% of their mail is authenticated with either SPF or DKIM. Now, Gmail does a “best guess” SPF – if it looks like an IP should be authorized to send mail for a domain (like the sending IP is the same as the MX) then it’s considered authenticated.

The 'null null' error
Either email addresses are anonymous for this group or you need the view member email addresses permission to view the original message ... From my point of view, the null null error is def. masking something else happening behind the scenes and there are plenty of reasons why it can occur. I've been seeing it recently happening in a CFC in the application scope where a method has a function-local variable that is set to reference to another application-scope CFC instance.

Some domains may set up a specific email address, e.g. nob...@my.domain which is configured to append all arriving new messages to (guess what? that's right: /dev/null :) Even though we have configured some such addresses in our domain, we do not welcome having our bandwidth used up by receiving tons of mail to be disposed of in this way (and your own ISP might also not welcome having such mail sent to its SMTP servers by your client).

/dev/null analog for email messages?
Either email addresses are anonymous for this group or you need the view member email addresses permission to view the original message ... > --Do this by (temporarily) replacing all the unknown or faulty addresses > with a "/dev/null" address of the form > > "Name of a faulty address person" <name...@address.null> "nobody" is a null account on most Unix systems, including OS X. Mail to this account will be silently discarded. So, you can use nob...@stanford.edu if you'd like, and Stanford doesn't object to eating a few letters for you (I'm assuming not, since you have an email account there already).
