I take Genesis 1-2 to be explaining how God ordered the cosmos to function, not about its material manufacture. Therefore it doesn't say anything about the process He used or the duration employed, leaving the door open for science to tell us such things. Science tells us what happened and how; the Bible tells us why it happened. Therefore, the Bible is open to conversations about process (the Big Bang) and evolution. If this perspective is true, and I believe it is, then Adam and Eve were not the first humans, but instead the first humans to whom God revealed Himself, and the first humans who were ensouled. Therefore, everything we read in science about early pre-humans and dinosaurs is likely correct, within the confines of how science will continue to learn and change with continuing discoveries. So the Neanderthals, homo-erectus, homo-etc., and Denisovans are all real and pre-human, and therefore before the biblical story. The biblical story kicks in (I would say) around 6000 BC) where God revealed Himself to Adam and Eve. Dinosaurs, then, are also pre-biblical. By the time the narrative of the Bible begins, the dinosaurs are long gone. The Bible doesn't mention them (despite what some people will say about Leviathan and Behemoth). What does the Bible say about dinosaurs and cavemen? | NeverThirsty
September 5, 2024 - Dinosaurs are part of the animal kingdom. If God is referring to a dinosaur in the following passage when He says, “He is the first of the ways of God,” then dinosaurs were the first of the land animals that God created.

r/AskAChristian on Reddit: What does the Bible say about early humans and dinosaurs?
April 14, 2021 -

Fellow Christian here. Confused about cavemen/Neanderthals/ early humans since Adam and Eve where the first human beings and I don’t think they where “early” human beings if you know what I mean.

And where do dinosaurs fit in? Obviously we’ve found evidence of their existence. Does the Bible ever mention them?

Thank you in advance

Confused about cavemen/Neanderthals/early humans, since Adam and Eve were the first human beings and I don’t think they were “early” human beings, if you know what I mean. What are you confused about, exactly? If Neanderthals existed? They did. We have fossil evidence for that species (or sub-species, according to some). There are people alive today who possess Neanderthal genetic material (roughly 2% of their genome). Or perhaps you're confused about when they lived, whether before, at the same time as, or after Adam and Eve. It was long before. They went extinct roughly 40,000 years ago. How can that be, if Adam and Eve were the first humans? Well, one option is that Neanderthals were not human. In other words, Neanderthals existed long before Adam and Eve, the first humans. Another option is that Adam and Eve were NOT the first humans, but they WERE the first to be God's image-bearers (whatever that turns out to mean). Or maybe you're confused about something I wasn't able to guess. Feel free to specify, if I didn't cover it here. And where do dinosaurs fit in? [...] Does the Bible ever mention them? No. What we commonly think of as dinosaurs went extinct around 65 million years ago—which was way, way before the stuff the Bible talks about.

The first is in verse 1. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”—the creation of the material universe, which could have taken place millions or billions of years ago—the Bible just doesn’t say. This original creation of Earth contained the world of dinosaurs and such prehistoric beasts and sea monsters that, if they were around during the age of man, would have quickly rendered him extinct.

What Does the Bible Say About..Evolution, Cavemen, and Dinosaurs?
From a practical rather than biblical standpoint, yes, the cavemen do prove something. They prove that men have adapted to their surroundings quite well. Some build houses, others live in caves, still others live in tents. Are there dinosaurs in the Bible? And why would God want them? The answer to the second question is, the Bible doesn't say, and I don't know.

This great animal, called “behemoth,” is described as “the chief of the ways of God,” perhaps the biggest land animal God had created. Impressively, he moved his tail like a cedar tree! Although some Bible commentaries say this may have been an elephant or hippopotamus, the description actually fits that of a dinosaur like Brachiosaurus.

Their strange bone formations may be because they lived very much longer than modern humans - how would your skeleton look if you lived a few hundred years rather than just 80 years or so? The idea of pre-history comes from secular thinking, not Biblical thinking.
