I know nothing really about this and just happened across this article, but the statement "Kotaku was first launched in October 2004 with Matthew Gallant as its lead writer, with an intended target audience of young men. About a month later, Brian Crecente was brought in to try to save the failing site" doesn't seem to fit with the infobox saying it was "created by Brian Crecente"; furthermore, Crecente's article states he was the "founder" of Kotaku.

November 27, 2023 - One of the admin states how the linked smaller sites are not verifable by their standards WP:VS/S, and on a latter post regarding Kotaku he bring up how Kotakus is publisher and editorialized. Yes mdf but they base their article of off the same tweets the other (non verifable) sites do..the difference being they inclued also the part how Kabrutus was harrased. I might have to pull my account to join in this mess ... Can't we be citing the direct quotes from leadership in interviews about the goal to "take over" the industry ... Nope, direct sources are banned on wikipedia.

They've been having problems since they started emphasizing rage-click journalism over anything remotely useful. I can't find anything indicating whether or not they're totally shutting down, or just pruning their roster, but they've been pretty trash for several years.
