Awesome Collection of Vector Maps.
Would also recommend having a look at Tilemill and OpenStreetMap. Plug the latter into the former, a quick bit of CSS-esque styling and you've got pretty much everything you could want as handy vector outputs. More on reddit.com

Free Vector Maps - Created to provide the design world with a highly detailed, easily customizable and consistent library of vector maps for free.
Interesting use of public domain data - repackaged with very loose attribution for free. I like the idea of the bundles - pay a few units and save a few clicks. I think most map makers would do it themselves, but nice. More on reddit.com

Unlike raster maps, vector maps consist of many different layers. Each layer contains different information. These are shown or hidden depending on the zoom level of the map, which makes the display very clear.

Raster vs Vector Maps: What's the Difference & Which are Best? | CARTO
August 12, 2020 - First though, let's define exactly ... or vector. Raster data is made up as a matrix of pixels, also referred to as cells, in much the same way as you might find when working within a spreadsheet. They are often square and regularly spaced but don't have to be. Think of walking over a field divided into a grid of squares with each square representing a value which can be discrete (e.g. soil type) or continuous (e.g. elevation). February 24, 2025 - Similarly to a column vector there is also a row vector, which is a \(1 \times n\) matrix. If we have an \(n \times n\) matrix, then we say that it is a square matrix. Now how does a matrix \(A\) relate to a linear mapping? Well a matrix tells you where certain special vectors go.

Such vectors take the form of sequences of latitude-longitude or projected coordinate pairs representing a point set, a linear map feature, or an areal map feature. For example, points delineating the boundary of the United States, the interstate highway system, the centers of major U.S. cities, or even all three sets taken together, can be used to make a map. In such representations, the geographic data is in vector format and displays of it are referred to as vector maps.
