Ahrefs is best used for competitor research, backlink analysis, and SEO. The most reliable metrics are the number of backlinks and referring domains. I would recommend you to try doing research on a competitor gap. It’s a great way to find out what kind of content and keywords it’s missing on your website that your competitor already has. It’s also very helpful how ahrefs shows keywords difficulty (KD). With this, you can just do research for keywords that will fit your domain size and its results. What's the point of AHREFs? | Google Update Killed Us
Third party tools are useful, but should be taken with a grain of salt. Solely focusing on rankings for a set of keywords will keep you stuck on a goose hunt. Reference GA and GSC for insights specific to your site. The emphasis in recent updates has been “helpfulness” and it seems like you all may be lacking there. A lot of what I’m seeing is that sites with in-depth, informational, educational, and properly cited content (substantiated claims that reference highly relevant and trusted resources) are staying strong. These sites show they are truly ingrained in, contributing to, and evolving with their industries - not just grifting off basic info that is commonly found anywhere online. If your site is only focused on your business and your providers, you may want to consider working on some objective content that establishes you all as real experts. What real results and outcomes are you driving? How are you keeping a pulse on your industry and integrating accordingly? How do your services address real world, specific problems your patients encounter? Why are you a better representation of expertise and progress than other providers? What standards do you all follow? What organizations, programs, etc are you involved with that show you are professionals? Why are your services/providers uniquely equipped to handle nuanced situations your patients experience? In what ways do you address, support and work with individuals from varying financial, familial, societal and other demographic backgrounds? What are your POVs on recent developments in your field/industry? What stages do patients go through as they progress through different therapeutic programs? What types of trauma benefit most from what types of therapy? Simply saying ”here we are, we’re offering our services, come on down” is the bare minimum, but you’re losing your lunch with that approach. You don’t have to be the absolute best practitioners in your industry, but you need to be exemplifying your value props through and through. If that’s not how you are representing yourself, then are you really the best option/result? If your blog content is fluffy and not providing real value to users, that could be another issue. I work with a few telehealth companies that create content calendars based on seasons, holidays, announcements about the business, and other topics that have tangental relevance to their audience (“It’s a new year! Here’s how you can make mental health a priority! #1 Eat right. #2 Get enough sleep. #3 Make time for yourself. #4 Exercise”). That shit may have worked for the NY Times and Rolling Stone, but it’s not going to show any value that your business can provide to real patients. Identify subjects that are highly relevant to your audience and industry/services and make that your core focus. Don’t just make statements - substantiate them, tie them back to your offerings and align your business with credible information. Read your website from an outsiders perspective and ensure it satisfies you enough to want to further the discussion. Review what content ranks well for these subjects and aim to be better. Don’t get stuck focusing on specific competitors. Pay attention to the wholistic landscape of search results. Prove yourself to be more than just a website that wants leads. Think about the info that motivates patients to get the help they need from trusted professionals that care. Empower them to take control of their situations by working with a team that is capable. Provide expertise with content that speaks to them. Hope you’re excited for the Oct 2023 Core Algorithm roll out today! May the odds be in your favor. More on reddit.com

Is ahrefs worth it?

Yes, but your business/website could be too small to benefit from all ahref features.

I have an ahref account, but I only activate my subscription 2-3 times a year for 1 month, or 2. I have no benefits right now using all ahref features all the time. But siteaudit is free, and userful everymonth.
