Q2. When do you need to flash BIOS (I am a noob to BIOS flashing) ? Click to expand... It might relieve anxiety if you attempt a flash. Is that enough reason? Downside: it might lull you into complacency, thinking the flashback button lowers your risk of a bad outcome a lot. More on forums.tomshardware.com

Bios flashback button /Asus etc.
Edit: I found the issue, solution below. Similar deal. Building a pc for a friend and feel terrible about it not posting. Same mobo b550m-e wifi; 5800x; Corsair 2x16gb ram; Asus 6600 XT; Rm 850watt psu Didn't post in the case, took it apart, and it still wouldn't post out the case with just the psu, cpu + cooler , ram and gpu installed. Did the flashback seemingly successfully beforehand. Flashing led and stick led were going for a few minutes. when it stopped and was off i waited another minute or two before I turned off the psu and removed the stick. Ive checked thet ram sticks and even used different stick Different monitors/dvi, hdmi cables.Different keyboard and mouse. Removed and reslotted the cmos b7attery. Reflashed the bios again7. switched cpu's, gpus. Cried inside Would appreciate any tips solution: well after 14hours of building an rebuilding i managed to find the problem. The latest bios (version 2024 i think it was) didn't work and neither did the one before that. As a last ditch attempt i went looking for the earliest 5800x compatible one (version 2004 i think ) which turned out to be the one that made the mobo post. Happy days. More on reddit.com

Question - Should I get a motherboard with a BIOS Flashback button ? | Tom's Hardware Forum
February 11, 2024 - With the way Intel and AMD both do microcode updates and security updates via BIOS just sitting on a BIOS isn't necessarily a good idea anymore (I used to all the time). Personally I wouldn't buy a new board without some flashback capability (a button isn't necessary for flashback).

When is BIOS flashback necessary, and how does it help PC builders? - Quora
Answer (1 of 2): That is actually a failsafe feature. So it won’t help PC builders per se, but knowing enthusiasts are often the building type and this subset of PCMR is giddy about latest BIOS revision, I can connect the dots this way. When flashing new firmware revision, traditionally it ...
