Dell does publish firmware updates via Windows Update. In fact its the only way that the new Snapdragon-based systems are allowed to get updates (Example: Inspiron 14 3420 ). That said, sometimes Windows Update sometimes thinks the firmware updates are related to a system when they don't. The update you're seeing absolutely doesn't apply and is actually older then the BIOS you have installed, being released in 2021!: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=f4ac793c-cb82-4b32-a4c1-c9dfdafe37ad You can ignore the update. If you where to try to install it the update would just fail with a not compatible error. It's a UEFI Capsule update, aka a BIOS update delivered directly by Microsoft Windows Update. You can disable these kinds of updates through the UEFI menu (BIOS) and Windows will stop pushing them so you can do them manually, whenever the hell you feel like it. Thanks for nothing Dell.

Hello Everyone. Hope you're well. I have a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen Edition) Laptop.
Windows Update shows up this firmware update 1.19.0. I currently have 1.16.0 BIOS installed. I always updated my BIOS from Dell Update and manually with the executable.
Weeks ago I don't know what happened but dell update app showed an update but suddenly disappeared after some days before this.
On dell support webpage the version 1.16.0 is the lastest available the 1.19.0 doesn't appear.
I've never had problems with BIOS updates and I don't really know if it's good idea to update to that version from Windows Update.
Shall I update it from Windows Update? Or anyone has this version.
I'm about to reinstall Windows to have a clean install because I have a lot of stuff I don't really need.
Someone knows if it will update the firmware automatically? Thankfuly it didn't.
I will be waiting for your answers, I appreciate it very much.

Just used my computer today, and Windows downloaded and forced me to install the firmware update (turn off and update, and restart and update) It successfully updated. And now my laptop is on BIOS version 1.19.0. just installed and didn't noticed something bad. edit this comment if I found something weird. attach the link to the video of the entire process that recorded.

The Dell firmware (BIOS) updates seem to be new in Windows 11 Windows Update. I don't recall seeing that in Windows 10 and below. I don't know why it only mentions "firmware" and not explicitly "BIOS" but it's def the BIOS. And the firmware update history is listed under "Driver Updates."

To make this update not mandatory, disable capsule bios updates in the uefi menu. Bios updates have evolved to a way that they aren't as dangerous as before, but the risk still remains. For me it didn't brick, but my friend got the other end of the stick.
