What is an endpoint? ELI5?
Is becoming a contrarian the natural endpoint?
You have to make a choice- are you going to chase the high, or are you going to accept your new state of being? Yes, there is no going back. You are living in a state of heightened awareness (when it comes to movies at least). There are always new discoveries, and they are worth seeking out. But the majority of stuff you come across will not be mind-blowing. Maybe watching a movie doesn't have to be about that anymore.
My favorite kind of movie has stopped being mind-blowing, now my favorite kind of movie feels like cozying up with a warm blanket. Or descending deep into a dark ocean. If you focus on pursuing a shock to the system, you'll end up fetishizing shock for its own sake, which ultimately is very shallow.
All that being said, you will ultimately be surprised by what you don't know about things you thought you know. Returning to the works of the masters, there are always layers to uncover, even when you think you've uncovered it all.

Need some advice with Endpoint Security!
Can the people in this sub please try and do better. This is such a FAQ it was only asked two hours earlier:
https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/ps2yeh/endpoint_protection_options/
If people in this sub asked how to manage printers two hours apart, they'd be downvoted and people would ask them to use the search. But people love this question for some reason. It's heavily manipulated. For the most recommended product (Cortex, with four recommendations), every single person who recommended it was downvoted.
It generates upvotes for extremely low effort responses. poster says "traditional or all cloud?". Answer with literally one word with a product name and have some upvotes.
OP: Some products, such as Symantec, are dead. In general, most of the market is pretty good. You will not get the best solution based on marketing material about "blocking REvil", and you will not get value by purchasing an EDR product and not investing time in monitoring and response. You might get value by reading responses on this sub, for which you should consider the search option.

I've been researching REST - and I think I'm starting to understand it as a concept - but my boss keeps talking about endpoints... And I don't know what endpoints are guys - and I'm not finding any good explanations but that could just be my Google-fu sucking.
This can't really be all that complicated... can it?
