I’m applying for a job with a third-party company that works at a site with Government technology in it and have been told that I’ll need “Level 2 Secret” clearance.
My friend has some kind of clearance for a full Government job that he was interviewed in-person for almost two hours by the RCMP for. Will I have to go through the same thing? I’ve been a citizen of Canada my whole life, have only traveled to the USA a few times and have no criminal record.

Yeah, probably, but anyone with exact knowledge doesnt talk about it . The Gov forms for ts and above require character witnesses...and likely someone will ask you and your acquaintances questions.

Secret clearance requires fingerprinting, and a 10 year background check. Interviewing isn't the norm, but can happen. Also, my brother in law who works at the RCMP says that while ostensibly secret clearance is uniform across government agencies, people applying for jobs requiring secret clearance at the RCMP get checked even if they already have secret clearance.
