list.pop and list.pop()
Python can't know this is a mistake. list.pop on its own is perfectly valid syntax. This gives you access to the pop method itself, which you might want for any number of reasons, such as passing it as a callback to another function. Now, a good linter will certainly see that you didn't do anything with that reference, and show a warning on that basis. But by itself this is not an error. More on reddit.com
Difference between pop and remove

Can I use pop() on a set in Python?
Yes, you can use pop() on a set, but since sets are unordered, it removes and returns an arbitrary element. Unlike lists or dictionaries, you won't know which element will be removed, which can be useful in scenarios where the specific item doesn't matter.

What is the difference between pop() and remove() in Python lists?
pop() removes an item at a specified index and returns it, whereas remove() deletes the first occurrence of a specified value. remove() doesn't provide the index of the removed item and raises a ValueError if the value isn't found, while pop() raises an IndexError if the index is out of range.

Can pop() be used with strings in Python?
pop() cannot be used with immutable types like strings, as strings do not support item deletion. However, you can convert a string into a list, use pop(), and then join the list back into a string if necessary. This provides the flexibility to manipulate string characters when required.
