Quantitative or Qualitative?
Go to your strength. I am nearly 100% qualitative and love the richness of the semantic content which gives us many options that are inherently derived from participants' narratives, rather than lumping their data into a big set and boiling them down to statistical animals. Our results are respected by the participants in a heart-felt manner. More on reddit.com

Can someone help me identify if this is a quantitative or qualitative research?
This is a very simplified answer but If you offered options for answers (what is your favorite color? A. Blue B. Green C. Red) you have done quantitative research. You can tally and count quantitative responses. Qualitative research would be if you audio/video recorded an interview with participants asking broader questions about their experiences for example and coded the transcripts to find themes in their answers. Qualitative research is not analyzed statistically but through a coding process of recognizing common experiences across participant accounts. More on reddit.com

Quantitative vs qualitative data
No that is absolutely 100% wrong. Those sizes are not quantitative data and mistaking this kind of 'quantitized' data for actual quantitative data is among the most common mistakes in statistics. Data is only really quantitative if there is an actual quantity being measured. Height, weight, number of something, duration. Things like 'rate on a scale from one to ten' are actually quanlitative data masking as quantitative data. There is no scale calibration, no useful sense in which a 4 is 'twice as good' as a 2. One has simply used numbers to create the illusion of measurement. Applying, say, a linear regression to this sort of data is going to be questionable at best, misleading at worst. Now if those sizes weren't made up, but an actual body measurement, like mens pants or suits, then you've got quantitative data. A result of this is that a great deal of statistical reasearch done by amateurs in business contexts is pretty untrustworthy. It is no surprise to me a instructor got this wrong. I'm honestly very impressed you saw through it. Most people actually believe throwing numbers into something makes it magically rigorous. You are now definitely smarter than most MBAs! In your opinion, what's the biggest difference between "data science" and "quantitative research methods?"

Bit of a shower thought here. But really: is "data science" just "qualitative research" with 21-st century window dressing, or is there something categorically different about it?

Which is it? Quantitative or qualitative?

What Is Qualitative vs. Quantitative Study?
There are two distinct types of data collection and study—qualitative and quantitative. While both provide an analysis of data, they differ in their approach and the type of data they collect. Awareness of these approaches can help researchers construct their study and data collection methods. Qualitative research methods include gathering and interpreting non-numerical data. Quantitative studies, in contrast, require different data collection methods. These methods include compiling numerical data to test causal relationships among variables.

What Is a Common Goal of Qualitative and Quantitative Research?
Both quantitative and qualitative methods seek to find patterns in the data they collect that point to a relationship between elements. Qualitative and quantitative data are both instrumental in supporting existing theories and developing new ones. Ultimately, the researcher must determine which kind of research best serves the goals of the study.

Quantitative and qualitative data | Australian Bureau of Statistics
As quantitative data are always numeric they can be ordered, added together, and the frequency of an observation can be counted. Therefore, all descriptive statistics can be calculated using quantitative data. As qualitative data represent individual (mutually exclusive) categories, the descriptive statistics that can be calculated are limited, as many of these techniques require numeric values which can be logically ordered from lowest to highest and which express a count.

Quantitative research is very well suited to establishing cause-and-effect relationships, to testing hypotheses and to determining the opinions, attitudes and practices of a large population, whereas qualitative research lends itself very well to developing hypotheses and theories and to describing processes such as decision making or communication processes. Quantitative research generates factual, reliable outcome data that are usually generalizable to some larger populations, and qualitative research produces rich, detailed and valid process data based on the participant’s, rather than the investigator’s, perspectives and interpretations (1).

September 18, 2022 - Quantifying qualitative data certainly is possible, but at its core, qualitative data is looking for themes and patterns that can be difficult to quantify, and it is essential to ensure that the context and narrative of qualitative work are not lost by trying to quantify something that is not meant to be quantified. However, while qualitative research is sometimes placed in opposition to quantitative research, where they are necessarily opposites and therefore "compete" against each other and the philosophical paradigms associated with each other, qualitative and quantitative work are neither necessarily opposites, nor are they incompatible.[4] While qualitative and quantitative approaches are different, they are not necessarily opposites and certainly not mutually exclusive.
