What does SAD feel like to you?
Incredible fatigue is my hallmark symptom. Doing anything makes me incredibly tired. Unrefreshing sleep is also how it manifests. Everything just feels 10x harder and stamina is an absolute joke. Walking feels like I’m trudging through sand. Concentration goes down the absolute toilet. I also get really bad anhedonia and nothing is appealing. I also don’t feel like doing anything. Do others struggle with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) in Canada?
I think we're looking at it from the wrong angle. Everything in nature rests. Everything. Look around you and see how nature has slowed down and/or gone dormant for the winter season. Yet we all think there is something wrong with us because we feel like we're slowed down, sluggish. We call it a disorder. We forget that we are nature. I'm in my 40s and have struggled with depression/anxiety my entire life. I've learned to stop punishing myself for feeling slower in the winter. This is my body's natural way of telling me to conserve energy. I give myself permission to take it easy. It doesn't mean I don't make the effort to get some sunlight, take some VitD, and get to the gym, but I also don't punish myself when I feel like taking a nap rather than hitting a spin class. There's freedom in reminding yourself there's nothing wrong with you. More on reddit.com

Feeling SAD? How to Combat Seasonal Depression
Lori Ohrt, MSW, LISW, UnityPoint Health, explains how seasonal depression, formally known as seasonal affective disorder (SAD), can affect your mood and what you can do about it. "As the days grow shorter and the weather turns colder in the winter, many people find themselves feeling a little down," says Ohrt. For some people, the sadness they experience is more than a temporary emotion.
