La Cuisine Paris / The 4th : A Gourmet Guide to the Arrondissements of Paris
March 4, 2020 - The Fourth incorporates our own neighbourhood of Hôtel de Ville (so named for the stately City Hall of Paris), but also the Marais, the Ile Saint Louis and a large part of the Ile de la Cité, meaning there's lots to discover in this one arrondissement! There's a lot of history packed into the fourth, with old mansions, narrow streets, beautiful gardens and even mediaeval towers to discover. All that history jostles comfortably alongside trendy bars, high-end boutiques and old bistros - meaning you can have the best of all worlds. The Ile de la Cité is more administrative and sober than sociable, home to the stunning Sainte Chapelle, the Conciergerie and the Palais de Justice, while the Ile Saint Louis has a much more laidback atmosphere with its lovely boutiques, cheesemongers, wine stores, bars and crêperies.

February 16, 2025 - Bofinger came from Alsace in the 1860s, so choucroute and ham and sausages in giant bowls (a highly sharable meal, making it very economical) are incredible. And they are also known for excellent oysters–so go again.

Must go to downtown restaurants?
Downtown on the weekend is a weird space. I recommend German village, short North, or franklinton as adjacent but more lively areas on the weekend. Breweries nearby with good food: Wolfs Ridge (they have a dining room in the front with more fancy food, and a taproom in the back by the alley with pub food) Gemüt, great German food and outstanding beer Barleys, solid beer and above average food, typical pub food Jackie O's, really good beer, they have a food vendor that does good sandwiches and sometimes another food truck too More on reddit.com

Food on a limited budget
Any french boulangerie will do for cold sandwiches (5 to 9€). Hot sandwiches are rather to be found in the many new takeaways that appeared everywhere in the city (10 to 15€) Most popular street food here : kebab (the old-fashioned ones around 6 , or the newer refined one supposedly german-style, around 8) Lebanese shawarma or fallafel ( around Rue Saint Martin near Centre Pompidou) Jewish fallafel (rue des rosiers in le Marais) Vietnamese Bahn mi (1st, 2nd or outer arrondissements, not so much in very touristy places) Burgers, of course, but recently a lot of Chinese bao sandwich (rice flour bread). French crepes (sweet stuffings) and galette (savory), those to take away are often only crepe. Better try to find a real creperie sit-in. You can also rely on the Bouillon type of French brasseries : very, very cheap, beautiful setting and nice atmopshere for traditional food of modest* quality. More on reddit.com

Downtown Columbus – Love Letter To Columbus
June 8, 2019 - (110-120 S. 4th Street) Another treasured former restaurant that bit the dust, way back in 1957. But they had plenty else around town to keep them occupied. This was a family owned operation that eventually moved and morphed over time to the Johnson’s Fish Market operation that many of us remember. There’s not even a building here now, but it would have sat just south of the one currently housing Omni Title and Columbus Gift Academy.
