I have decided to purchase a memory foam mattress topper to help support me when I sleep (I'm about 230-240 lbs and a side or back sleeper with some back problems).
Although my mattress was comfortable when I first bought it I just need something to help distribute my weight evenly so I don't wake up with sore hips.
I've read conflicting things about topper depth. Some people say that 3 inches isn't going to be supportive for long enough for someone heavier. And other people have said that 4 inches "folds like a taco" when you sleep on it and you can't move.
Anyone have any experience or insight to add. I don't mind having to flip/rotate it every so often and replace it in a couple of years. I'd prefer that to being unable to sleep comfortably right off the bat. But I want to make sure it will support my back and hips.
Hi,
My husband and are in the market for a new matress and he noticed that we could save about 300$ buying a 4" organic latex mattress topper instead of a 6" Sleepez with firm and soft side (Roma Mattress.) I like the savings, but am worried that 4" latex on the ground will be too hard. I'm 135 lb side sleeper. Husband is mostly back sleeper and says he feels perfectly comfortable on a 3" peice of memory foam that he sleeps on in his van. If we got the 4" topper, could another cotton pillow top topper make it more comfortable for me if I found it too hard?
