Okay, kind of a dumb question here, but I'm trying to teach myself the language, so I occasionally have to ask things like this.
I know the usual way to say your age is "J'ai X ans", but, is there ever a situation, where someone has asked you specifically for your age, when you might drop the "ans/years" and just keep the number: e.g. "J'ai vingt-six"

I'm just thinking about how in English if someone asks how old you are you might just say "I'm 26" instead of saying "I'm 26 years old", but I have no idea if this translates over. No pun intended.

What is "as" in Quelle age as tu
How do you say this in French (France)? what is your age?
How do I say how old I am?
When saying your age, do you ever drop the "ans"
So I understand the formation of "Quelle age etez-vous?". Inversion is used to get from You are -> are you. Since french differentiates between formal and informal you, shouldn't this be "Quelle age es tu?". I think even that is considered correct, but I don't understand what "as" is here.
I've just started learning french about a week ago and this community seems awesome. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong. Merci :)
If I wanted to say "I am nineteen years old" I'd say « j'ai dix-neuf ans » but how do I know how old I am?
