Apple TV doesn’t have a huge catalog, at least not yet, but everything I’ve seen on there has been consistently good. Ted Lasso is a brilliant series, Shrinking has been great. Bad Monkey was good, Wolfs wasn’t amazing for having two a list stars but still good. Presumed innocent was really good. Time Bandits was great and really captured the tone of the original movie. They’re pretty much taking the opposite approach from the Netflix model and focusing on quality over quantity. More on reddit.com

Hello,
So I've been obsessed with Severance and got a 3 month free trial of appleTV+ to be able to watch it in its full 4K glory. It's incredible. Like seriously, I haven't watched a series this good in forever.
But now that I got my subscription until August for free (and am probably going to be cancelling before paying), I'm wondering what the truly hidden gems are. I've had netflix before and frequently found myself just drained by how many mid or just plain bad movies there were in the selection. Is appleTV and different?

This week I saw three Apple TV movies:
Napoleon
Killers of the Flower Moon
The Instigators.
Whilst The Instigators was a tragic waste of talent, the first two imo were both resounding successes. Both fine, magnificent movies cinematically speaking. I’d read bad things about both (too long, inaccurate etc) but on a purely cinematic level, both these movies delivered and I applaud Apple TV for these.
I’m genuinely excited what Apple TV can offer. The only downside is that I can only watch it in my iPhone as when viewed on my television the picture breaks up. That’s quite a major problem especially as Ridley Scott has publicly voiced his disapproval of watching movies on phones.
Anyway, I think I might watch Blitz next. I have reservations about this one too but, seriously, after The instigators, surely it won’t be on that level of badness. It looks as if it will offer something of substance at the very least.

Apple TV+ has a good amount of quality series and movies that go under the radar. It's crazy because Apple is always giving out 1-3 months free subscriptions too.
