I've found it best to turn all equipment settings all the way down, and turn the car in and find a good balanced song or one you listen to frequently, then turn it up to the volume you normally jam out to, then slowly turn each one up until you start to hear some distortion, then back it down one~two notches and leave it. Better to be just a tad quieter than have bad quality/ risk blowing speakers

I'ma chime in here, Audio engineer and music producer with 10 years of experience and numerous sound systems installed! Depending on the car model and whether or not it's stock speakers we're talking about or after market speakers, My go to is putting all sliders on flat, then put treble at +5 mids at +1 and Bass at +9 with slight volume adjustment and it's worked like a charm for me especially when I'm using Tidals Hi-Fi audio option! Even with Spotify and Pandora it sounds incredible yet not overbearing or speaker blowing!

Bass: 8 Mid: 2 Treb: 6 Also, just for clarification, my car has two subs not just one. I think this may have been a change in the upgraded system in the 08's, because it sounds like all the other boston systems in the 06 / 07's only have one sub.

Thus, I kept the bass almost flat and maybe +2 on treble. With my current car, it's not boomy and it doesn't rattle so I put it to like +5 or 6 out of 10 and maybe +7 for treble (I can't remember for sure).
