What is the typical month that they open it?
My store hadn't had them in a while -- I'd occasionally stop through the garden section to check through mid-to-late summer and they only had a few dead stragglers on the shelf.
Sometime in September or early October I came through and was surprised to see a brand new display of plants near the outdoor garden section entrance! ...All marked at full price. Considering the weather (and the fact that Lowes and Home Depot already cleared out) this seemed like a weird time to restock.
I've been kinda watching them but as the weather gets colder they've shut down the outdoor garden section. Now the succulents are stashed behind some fake Christmas trees.
Does anyone know if they actually mark these down, or will they just whither away behind the fake Christmas trees until the holiday season is over?
Just wanted to post a PSA about Walmart's garden center. If you have a Walmart near you, you should definitely consider giving them a visit soon. I just went to mine yesterday and I was stunned to see nearly every single indoor plant marked down to 50% off or more. Mine had monstera perus, standleyanas, thai constellations, money trees, anthuriums, marantas, palms, phal orchids, ring of fires, a bunch of painted lady philos, ficus, and more. Most of them were around $5 to $7 for a 6 inch pot and a lot of them looked to be in perfectly good shape. The big snake plants and palms that are a couple feet tall were $10. Succulents were $1 to $2 each (but Walmart is not the best at keeping those alive). I suppose this is the time of year that they are trying to clean out that whole section to make room for Christmas and Halloween decor.
Went to Walmart in search of a nice house warming gift for a friend. Both pots were on clearance, marked down to $3 each. With the golden pothos and snake plant the whole thing came out to around $20. YMMV Good luck!
