Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about starting to sell on Shopify. I already have a brand and an Amazon store, with over $120K in sales and 5,000 units sold in the last 7 months. I’m now looking to scale and build out my own Shopify website. I have a registered trademark and everything in place.
My main question is: do people still actively buy from standalone websites? And how solid is Shopify as a business model today? I’ve seen a lot of people online sharing fake stats or using bots to fake success, so I’m looking for real insights.
Is there anyone here who genuinely sells on Shopify and makes good profit margins?
Any insights or experiences you can share would be super helpful—thanks in advance!

Shopify isn’t a business model or a platform with customers built in, you need to bring them to your website. Lots of successful companies on Shopify with great margins. I do feel like you may struggle not being on Amazon with a $24 AOV and trying to cover shipping costs outside of the FBA network.

A successful business builds that on there own and usually with stuff thats not being sold on amazon bc why buy from you when i have no idea your rep and amazon offers protection? So its that hump you have to get over where you make your rep on your own, you cant expect it to transfer from another platform. Its just not gonna work like that. With shopify you make your own way. Its up to the business not the platform and thats the beauty of shopify.
