Looking at buying visa gift cards for my employees. Need to pick up tonight for a function tomorrow. Larger amounts. Is Shoppers a good place or is there a better place to pick them up?

Not looking for opinions on cards, I know there's pros and cons. I am only looking for a place to buy them. Thanks in advance!

I couldn’t find a single place (including ChatGPT!) that clearly lays out all the fees attached to Visa gift cards (the non-reloadable type), so I pulled this list together.

Common / documented fees:

• Activation or purchase fee – sometimes called different things, usually $2.95–$6.95 depending on load amount.

• Inactivity / dormancy fee – only allowed by law after 12 months of no use; often ~$4.95/month

• Replacement card fee – if lost or stolen, often $5–$8 to reissue.

• Foreign / currency conversion fee – ~2% if the card can be used abroad (though most are U.S.-only).

• Paper statement / mailing fees – if you request mailed copies of your balance or history (who wants paper, but...)

• Decline / denial fee – a few issuers charge when a transaction is attempted for more than the balance (be careful at gas stations with the $200 holds - always go inside)

• Card cancellation / refund fee – if you request a check for leftover funds, some issuers deduct ~$10.

This list definitely isn't comprehensive, and fees can keep changing.
